conclusion of tournament

the sg youth handball tournament finally ended. in the boys category, taiwan clinched the first position, hk second, and sg third. same results in the girls category.

so a friendship dinner was held at the resort to celebrate the conclusion of the tournament. each team also have to put up a performance. taiwan boys did a fusion of dance, cheerleading and beatbox. taiwan girls team only sent two representatives to sing a song. sg boys sang some english song. and the sg girls sang where i belong by tanya chua. hk boys sang this eason chan song which i dunno the title. hk girls were the most entertaining, dancing to popular hits like nobody, sorry sorry and 忘情桑巴舞.

and there was also a special performance put up by someone, and that someone is none other than myself. this is a super last min thingy. it all happened on wednesday night when anna, yilun, sarah and ziqi stayed over at city beach. then we were talking cock at the hotel lobby. then anna ask me,"eh yy, why not you dance in tomorrow's friendship dinner'. then i say cannot because i got no costume. and then everyone psycho-ed me together to dance, and jonathan even offered to fetch me home to get my costume. since they are so passionate to see me dance, i feel hard to oblige. hahahaha.

anyway the theme of the friendship dinner is rock and roll. and i am doing 水袖, which totally dun fit into the theme. and then the other performers (this malay band and another dance group consisting of malay kids) were like staring at me with lots of hatred, wondering wassup with this chinese guy in chinese costume, doing some wassup chinese performance in a rock and roll themed friendship dinner.

so i start to feel a bit demoralised and wondered whether the audience will also think the same way. but thankfully once my name was announced by the emcee i received thunderous cheers and whistles. throughout the performance, i can hear lots of applause and the taiwanese girls were screaming 偶像. this was quite amazing because the taiwanese girls were very quiet and subdued during their stay in sg, which totally defies my concept of typical taiwanese girls, who are supposed to be chatty and 热情. ok anyway i totally enjoyed doing the performance and receivng the applause. haha.

the hk team has a flight at six am the next day so they have to reach the airport at 4 am. before that they wanted to go to see the merlion. song kang and i accompanied them. we brought them to see the sg flyer, the esplanade, merlion and fullerton hotel. we sent them off at the airport and reach the resort at 5 am. totally shag like hell.

its nice to hear the team officials and coaches calling me by my name, because i did not spend that much time with the teams as compared to the liaison officers. if next time i have the chance to play a part in organising similar events, i will like to take up the role of the liaison officer, taking charge of the team's welfare and be their tour guide.

i have city beach withdrawal symptoms because its really a nice place to stay, with friendly and helpful staff. i will miss the days of nua-ing inside the air conditioned room and talking cock with jonathan, chatting with the resort staff, the team officials and youth athletes, running at labrador park etc etc. i highly recommend this place if you want a short getaway. btw a night stay is 130 bucks.

ok before i end this post i got another piece of news to share. my hod from my contract sch sms me this morning, asking me whether i want to go back. i thought it was a bit too late because the posting is already finalised, but he said that the principals can do mutual deployment between schools. so after much consideration, i agreed to go back, and let's see how it goes.

behind the scenes

organising a tournament is never easy, and requires alot of efforts. there is so many planning, so many things to take note of, and alot of coordination needs to be done.the transportation of athletes from place to place, the setting up of the field of play, preparing food for the athletes, officials and workforce, bringing the athletes and officials to go shopping, blah blah blah.

so during this tournament, i had the privilege to drive two very fierce cars for the purpose of doing sai gang. one is a grey color honda integra which belongs to mary, the president of HFS (handball federation singapore). the other one is a super ah beng pai kia blue color honda fit.


its actually a race car. and when you unlock the car, instead of the beep sound, you will hear "VIPER ARMED". then when you lock the car it is "VIPER UNARMED". i may be flashy and wears pink color nike shoes but this car is a bit too AA for my liking.

oh i forgot to mention, the grey color honda integra is used to fetch the german ITO. the blue color honda fit is used to order food from the hawker centre near mel's house.

now let me show you the magnificient field of play. you must really 佩服 the bangalahs and volunteers for converting the fencing ground to a handball ground within a span of 17 hours.

the guy in the middle is the taiwan girls' team coach. he is very friendly and nice to talk with, but when it comes to competition, he is super fierce and scold the players like 不用钱. he will scold them 白痴，混帐 and other terms which are not nice to hear. he will also use his hand and whack the players' heads. if the coach did that to sg students, the next morning he will receive two letters on his desk. 1st letter is complaint letter from parents, 2nd letter is a letter of dismissal from MOE. having said that, different countries have different culture. the taiwan players respect him alot and i think its very hard to command this kind of respect from sg students. haiz sadded.

watching the taiwan and hk teams play is really an eye opener. i am simply amazed by their skills, their athletism and team play.

oh and i received my posting! its pa_ _ r r_s crest secondary! sports ccas have table tennis, volleyball, softball, fencing and netball. performing ccas have band, choir, chinese orchestra, drama and dance. its quite sadded that dun have my core sports.

anyway you noticed wat are the initials for the school? its actually PRC. hahahahaha.

look quite alike, isnt it? anyway if you dunno who he is, pls look through the contestants in the first season of channel u's project superstar. awesome singing competition whereby the female champion is not very famous in taiwan and contemplating whether to switch back being an SIA girl, while another female contestant who was booted out in the first round is like SUPER DUPER FAMOUS in hong kong and sing duet with the popular tvb actor raymond lam and was a special guest performer in joey yung's concert. very wassup i must say.

in the evening i went to jog at labrador park with song kang, who is a dragonboater. his chest muscles is so big that its going to explode. the only thing that i win him is my tummy although my tummy is not so big that it is on the verge of explosion. and its my first time going to labrador park throughout my 27 years of life in sg. hahaha.

at night we had a welcome buffet dinner for the youth athletes. anyway did i mention that these athletes have a super duper huge appetite? they can easily finish 2 packs of 杂菜饭. so the buffet was swept finish by them and we (we as in the volunteers organising the handball tournament) had nothing much left to eat. shin drove to fong seng to buy maggi goreng for all of us. i was really jubilant because maggi goreng is one of my all time favourites and it has been really a long time since i ate that.




and then is photo taking time! the hk athletes came to take photos with me. hahahahaha. darling dun jealous ok? just take it that your bf is a bit charismatic and charming.

day 1 at command centre

its quite fun being a makeshift resort manager, giving the teams briefing about the facilities of the resort, wat kind of breakfast the resort have, the fire escape route and the other blah blah blah stuff.

taiwan boys team was supposed to touch down sg at twelve pm. but there seemed to be some miscommunication and later on we found out that they took another flight and will touch down sg at 845 pm instead. that is like so cock up and i feel so sian because i reached the resort at 11 am just to prepare for their arrival and i had to wait until ten pm instead. wassup!

half of the hong kong team arrived at the resort at 0030, feeling both tired and hungry. by the time everything was settled, it was already two am plus.

at first i thought that city beach resort is some bird dun lay egg place where no singaporean knows of its existence. but apparently the resort is quite happening because there were many prc tourists. there was also a lion dance troupe from thailand staying there so they were super rowdy and were still making alot of noises at four am.

i noe all these because jonathan's snores are simply thunderous. hahahahaha. i cant sleep at all. :p

saturday post

today i checked in city beach resort with my fellow board & lodging manager, jonathan. both of us will be staying in the resort from sunday night all the way until friday morning. we will just treat it like a short holiday. haha.

the rooms are actually not bad! let's take a look:

the room is good, bed also is good, tv not so good because only show the typical singapore channels. i will survive on 宫心计 and 古灵精探. and the most not good thing is... jonathan snores... and very LOUDLY. hahaha. i have to bring ear plugs.

darling came to my house for dinner. after that we went to parkway parade for shopping. i bought my third cny item! a pair of white pants from crocodile! original price 129, after discount 56.05! more than 50 percent discount!

and then we went to fen's house (also nzj's house because they are staying together) for a farewell gathering, because hz is going to hong kong for a one year work attachment. we played taboo which was very very fun, and i was super excited throughout the game.

so as i had mentioned, tmr night onwards i will be staying at city beach resort. over there got wireless, but heard that it is very very very slow. and my cough is not getting any better. i have been coughing for 3 weeks already. wassup man. this is the longest illness i ever had. so its fair, because jonathan will snore while i cough, so our room will be super happening. hahahaha.

the outrageous pink shoes

its already coming to the end of second week of sch, and i really dread this feeling. i will seriously miss the company of my classmates, be it the volleyball sessions, the talk cock sessions, and even having lessons together.


after we graduate, do we still have a chance to gather and play games? haiz i will miss those days... *emo-ing*

today after sch i went to jurong point to shop for cny clothes. i stepped into royal sporting house, and something immediately caught my eye...

this pair of pink nike shoes is like asking me to feel it, to touch it, to wear it. so i went to feel it and touch it. and something tells me that i must definitely wear it. but before i wear it i take a look at the tag, praying that i will not be disappointed.

my goodness wat am i waiting for? i grabbed the shoe and immediately asked the staff for my size. and within the next five min, i tried the shoes, paid the money, and walked out of the store in high spirits.

next up is 77th street. saw another pale pink top which looks quite compatible with my new pink shoes. tried it and also bought it.

tuesday post

its been very long since i post pictures of nice food.

so finally here's two to share:



taken at fish & co at tampines mall. this is seafood platter for 4! and the two gigantic prawns are the most upz out of the whole platter. shiokness to the max. anyway i shared the platter with 3 of my pe classmates. one stays in eunos, another in simei and the other one in yishun, they meet at tampines because tampines gv shows the most decent time slot for sherlock holmes which is at 105 pm. our only lesson for today starts at 430. so it has been declared that tuesday is our movie day or entertainment day or watever u call that.

after lesson i went to suntec with the other volunteers from and-eye-yi to take a look at the exhibition hall where the singapore youth handball tournament will be held. its very cool when the whole exhibition hall is empty except for just a few pple. then you stand in the middle of the hall and imagine you are playing and being cheered by the spectators. but too bad i dun have the chance. haha.

the youth fencing tournament will take place first. once their tournament is over this whole area will be converted to the warm-up area for the youth teams.


this is the actual competition ground with the spectator seats. its called FOP (field of play). the handball court will be 'placed' on top of the wooden parquet tomorrow. this will need alot of manpower and is super duper siong.

ok, so now is publicity time. the tournament will start next week, and the first day of the tournament is on tuesday, last day on thursday. no need to buy tickets. you can watch the whole tournament free of charge.



do come and support this vibrant handball scene at suntec city exhibition hall 602! anyway its highly unlikely you will see me over there, because i am stationed at the command centre. my role for this tournament is the board & lodging manager, and the command centre is at city beach resort, which is a very ulu place near labrador park!

i will be staying at the resort from sunday to friday, because the teams are arriving on sunday so must help them check in. pls do come and visit me because i will be super bored, and if you are really visiting me do give me a call first before coming so i can ask you to buy some food back for me and my fellow partner in the command centre! hahahaha.

invictus

i have been coughing very badly for the past few days. and for that past few days i am drinking different types of chinese medicine cough syrup to cure my cough, but it seems that my cough was not getting any better, so yesterday night i finally went to see the doctor and got some medicine and a MC for today.

today's timetable is the most screw-up in the week, because i have only one lesson which is from 430 to 530. so the MC came in at the right time, and i no need to travel to sch for two hours to attend a one hour lesson, and then travel back home for another two hours.

having said that, i still went to west mall (which is at bukit batok) to have lunch and watch the movie invictus with my classmates! hahahaha.


not a very wow movie. but it is still watchable. it shows wat nelson mandela had done to improve south africa, and how he unite the 白人 and 黑人 of south africa through rugby, whereby the south african national rugby team is made up of all whites and only one black. the rugby team was losing all the way at first and was a laughing stock. but nelson mandela stepped in to motivate the team, and together with the captain's leadership, the rugby team miraculously picked themselves up and won the rugby world cup. the whites and blacks embracing each other, accepting that they are all citizens of south africa, was indeed touching.

this is the power of sports. sports unite everyone. you make new friends through playing sports. bonds of friendship become stronger when you train together, play together, win and lose together. on a personal note, i am pleased to be involved in different sports. without sports, i am not who i am today. that is why i chose sports to be a career. that is why i am a pe teacher.

weekend post

my saturday and sunday was spent at syog headquarters. i have the pleasure to learn how to use a cool software to analyse the performance of handball players from this very cool guy from china, who himself is a bball player, a handball player, a handball referee, a handball coach, and now he is a very impt guy in the international handball federation! and he is also the one to develop the software for ten years!

sometimes i wonder how come i am putting so much focus on handball and the only answer i can think of is i really love the sport, enjoy playing it, and enjoy saving shots. haha. once again i must thank my beloved hall for giving me so much intensive training.

today we have three teams coming down to play friendly matches and also to test the software. and one of the teams happen to have 3 of my hall friends! haha got so coincidental a not. helped another team to be the goalkeeper and played against the hall friends team. i think they have improved in playing the sport.

anyway tomorrow is the first day of sch, looking forward to see my classmates but the crap thing is i only have lessons from 830 to 1030 and its a 2 hour journey back home. haha.

wish all my ex students best of luck when they collect their o level results tomorrow!

thursday post

today was quite packed.

in the morning i went to meet my financial planner, who was also my wushu coach, to make some investments.

then i went to nus sch of dentistry for the 2nd dental check-up before i go and do my braces. my dentist, who is a year 4 dentistry student, also cleaned my teeth, FOR FREE. but the cleaning process is freaking pain cos my gums are not in a good condition, and after the cleaning my gums were bleeding. and this is wat he told me: 我是为你好。那些帮你洗牙，不痛不痒的，都不是为你好。

after the painful dental check-up i met darling for a short while in sci canteen, and then she went back home while i went to syog headquarters for a meeting. as i had mentioned before i am one of the volunteers for the upcoming singapore youth handball 2010 tournament, whereby the youth teams from sg, hk and taiwan will play against one another.

as i reached there early, i went to look look see see at the yog exhibition hall, which was really quite nice. it showed recognition to singapore athletes from the past and present.






meeting over, and my friend fetched me home on his bike. wah lao he ride damn fast and damn fierce. i admit that i was a bit scared but thank goodness i arrived home in one piece. after grabbing my dinner i went back to nus again to play takraw with my hall friends!

and on the way home, i was on KPE, i saw a flash of white light. feeling freaking horrible in my stomach, i glanced at my speedometer and i saw the arrow point at 92!!! F_ _ K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (btw the speed limit in KPE is 70.)

there goes 4 demerit points and 130 bucks! shit i am so freaking freaking sian. so the lesson is, avoid using KPE, especially when you are driving home at two am.

i checked my blog at 330 am, and the blog counter is 49995! 5 more hits to reach the cool 50,000!


this time round got no prizes. haha. because of the 130 bucks fine. :(

the first movie of 2010

i like the part when sherlock holmes think through his mind how he is going to fight, and the whole thinking process was in slow motion, but when it comes to the real fight everything just happens in a flash. damn cool!

seriously throughout all these years i always thought that sherlock holmes is some boring clever detective who always say 'elementary my dear watson'. and watson is some blur blur assistant who just follow sherlock holmes everywhere he goes.

but after watching the movie, i was like: ORHHHHH!!! 原来 sherlock holmes and dr watson are supposed to be like that one ah?

ok having said that, i must say both robert downey jr and jude law really carried off their roles very well. its a joy to see them act on the big screen. actually its wrong to say the word act. they are just so natural. so perfect.

this is the first post of the year 2010.

so this post has to be something special. but i cant think of anything special to blog about, so i shall just mention my new year resolutions.

1) lose weight and have a flatter tummy

2) run more often, improve my stamina and get gold for ippt

3) inspire my kids and mould them to become future pillars of the nation *wow*

4) to become a better person, better friend, better bf, better sportsman, better dancer, better son, better brother, better so on and so on...

5) save more money for a better future

and last but not least, WORLD PEACE!!!
