lunch at Doong Ji

finally i have the chance to eat at doong ji after so many years. the first time i went there was with my jc classmates. probably about five years ago. 

this time i went with my colleagues miss chen and miss chua. miss chen can't take spicy stuff. miss chua was having a bad cough. and so i can't eat the all time favourite kimchi steamboat. :'(

but still the other dishes that we ordered were good! 

hope for more meal gatherings next year, even though i am going to the new school in the north. 

Xin Yi Mongolian Dance Rehearsal

for our thursday practise we invited audrey, my student, to take photos of us. audrey has a passion for photography and videography. she took many nice photos of myself and darling, and also nice photos of xuanxuan, darling's niece. 

she is also our official wedding videographer. :)

we got our wedding album already!

the photos are very well taken. the layout of the photos are very artistic. but the thing is... why our photographer chose a black colour album?! i asked my photographer and until now he haven't reply me yet. :p

i finally dyed my hair (DIY) and cut my hair for a neater look for our big day.

monday post

went to the airport to send the kids off for their cultural trip to macau. i was very happy that this trip is able to materialise, especially after the disappointment from the cancellation of the hk trip last year. i requested with the school management to let the sec 4 kids who won't able to go to hk last year, to go for this macau trip, and thank goodness they approved the request. 

have a good time at macau! all of you deserve the trip. :)

Grad Nite 2015

Grad Nite for this year was held at hotel re. 

the location is a bit inaccessible but the food is good! last year's food cannot make it. 

this batch of sec 4s is a good batch. very motivated and very obedient. they deserve the grad nite. 

mr felix, who is my angel! thanks for the gifts and love that you showered on me for the year. 

with the legend, mr hafiz. the most awesome disciplinarian i have ever seen. when he speaks, everyone listens. 

mr john lim, who left us in 2014 to go to moe hq. next year he will be going to another school in the east to be the SH for Geography. he is one great guy who dedicated a very long post to me on instagram:

the niece is just too adorable. :D

monday post

this morning just nice my pe colleagues (dan, john and aloysius) park their cars beside me. 

and behold the singapore combi. 

finally i got a car and finally there is such  a sight where all 4 of us have our cars side by side. 

the 4 of us are actually the "四大天王" of the pe dept. hahaha. 

now we are discussing to go somewhere to do a photoshoot with our cars. 

过大礼

finally the day has come to 过大礼。

过大礼 is when the groom side prepared some stuff for the bride side, and also prepare an amount of money for the bride side known as the 聘金. 

then the bride side will 回礼 by returning a few of the items that the groom side had prepared, returning a portion of the 聘金, and prepared some other items for the groom side. 

based on actual tradition, there is actually ALOT of items that need to be prepared by both sides. thank goodness my parents are quite 青菜 with the 过大礼, so darling's parents also 青菜 together with us. and so the final outcome is that our 过大礼 is pretty streamlined, but most importantly both sides are happy. :)

after that we went to deliver the invitation cards to our relatives separately. 

the cakes that i got are sooooooo good! i got them from my 大妹's contact. if any of you want to try them, you can get the contact from me. 

saturday post

saturday was an eventful day. 

first we went to Gown Warehouse for our gown and suit fitting. 

darling look so beautifulllllllllllllllllllllllll. i am the luckiest man in the world. anyway the suit on me is tailor made, and i am proud to announce that when i tried on the pants it was loose. which means... i lost weight! hahahahaha. 

darling made a change to her 2nd march-in dress. the 2nd march-in dress was a much cheerful colour compared to the one that she chose a month ago. i shall keep the suspense for now. you all will see for yourself on 6 dec. :)

after the gown fitting i brought her to swissotel for a staycation. she thought that i am doing the staycation with her but actually it was a surprise hen's night party planned by her jie meis. wanxin msged me two weeks ago to plan this. thanks to my good acting and the jie mei's good planning, we are happy to announce that the surprise hen's night party was a success! she was totally surprised when she walked into the hotel room and the 4 jie meis popped out from the toilet and under the bed. 

xuehong, nzj, fen and fooshin, remember this 4 faces. they will be our main obstacle on 6 dec gatecrash. hahaha. they will test us to the core but i believe we will have the ability and resilience to tide through.  

then i went to support xuehong and his dancers at this chinese dance association event. apparently this assocation has been around for 30 years, which sadly both nzj and i had never heard of it before, even with our involvement in nuscd since 2007. 

friday post part 2

it's the end of o levels 2015! congrats to my sec 4 & 5 students for surviving this ordeal. this batch of sec 4 and 5 students are very lucky because they get to take all their papers in air con rooms, thanks to the haze. taking exams in the hall is no joke, so hot and so stuffy. 

as for me, congrats to me because i no need to wake up at 5 am anymore. being the CPE is a very heavy responsibility and i am honestly quite glad that i no need to shoulder the responsibility anymore. thank goodness there's no major irregularity that happened. i am also glad that all my invigilators are very good and cooperative. 2 years ago i remembered that i have a cranky lady invigilator and i have to manage her personally on a few occasions. 

the horror story of this o levels 2015 has to be a certain school in the east. the school hall was broken into at night, and the culprits vandalised the whole hall by spraying fire extinguishers all over the hall. they even tried to break open the exam cupboard. exam cupboard is the place that stores all the exam stationery, answer booklets and attendance sheets. 

so the next morning, when the CPE and PE arrived at the hall (normally they are the earliest to arrive), they got a shock when they see all the white substances all around the hall. the principal came and also got a shock, and she activated some teachers, and she herself with all the other teachers cleaned the hall together. #modeltheway #leadbyexample

the morning paper had to start 45 minutes later. bad luck for the CPE, PE, invigilators, students and all the staff of that school. seriously what were the culprits thinking?! 

this reminds me of a quote that appeared in Batman: Some men aren't looking for something logical. They just want to watch the world burn.

in the evening i went to watch my student's performance at esplanade theatre. she is now studying at SP and she is in the SP dance club. SP dance club has grown from strength to strength. i watched their dance production last year at kallang theatre. this year they upgraded to esplanade theatre. 

the whole dance production this year was good. great energy from the performers, nice concept, wonderful costumes. i enjoyed watching it! 

congrats shermin! so happy to see you shine on stage! see you on 29 nov for the wedding dance practise! 

i received a gift and a card from 3 of my Modern Chinese Dance dancers. :)

received a belated birthday wish from my school counsellor. 

this guy is one awesome guy who was the OM at Millenia Institute, and then he came to my workplace to become the school counsellor. 

he did alot of stuff for the school and the students. the most recent thing he did was to get a camouflage net and set up a study corner for the students outside staffroom. he carries the rank of MAJ in SAF and still has some connections with the people there.

How to forget your birthday! But work, work and more work kept me away from FB. But when I realised it was your birthday on 11 Nov, I panicked and the last thing I needed was an armoured vehicle coming in with a man holding a gun dressed in James Bond outfit! Scary!!

Anyway Heartiest Birthday Wishes to a supporter, critic, motivator, teacher, friend and mentor – a great colleague who is literally all-in-one.

The greeting may be stale, but I assure you the sentiments are fresh.

the birthday celebration started yesterday when i went to darling house. 

she bought something that is super cool for me. i am amazed, surprised and touched beyond words. 

behold, the samsung gear S2! it can be connected to my samsung s5 using bluetooth! thank you darling! 

and we spent some time together playing with the watch. she taught me some of the functions that she learnt from the salesperson. :)

darling also prepared a birthday cake for me, and her whole family sang the birthday song for me, including the niece. funniest thing is that the niece blew off the candle flame before me and everyone was laughing hysterically by her cute act. hahahahaha. 

this is my birthday cake for today! ordered by me, paid by me and collected by me.
