today i woke up late, because carnival starts at two, and speech day ceremony starts at 530. but i still have to reach sch at eleven am for some rehearsal thingy.
its the first anniversary at the new sch compound, and the atmosphere is really great. at the school hall when the school song is being played, my 眼睛泛着泪光. hahahaha. i think i have grown more attached to the sch and i will definitely give my best for the sch and for my students.
during the carnival is the time when i feel confused. because its either the students are saying their true words, or they are telling the most sincere lies, which i believe is the latter.
i said that because they will come to me with their stuff in the form of sweets, drinks, donuts, bracelets, or watever stuff, saying all these:
1) cher, you are very very handsome.
2) cher, you are my favourite teacher, buy from me!
and all the random blah-blah boot-licking words to sweet-talk me in buying their stuff. hahahahaha.
so let's carry on with the typical yy style of blogging, hence presenting you the pics:
for the carnival the staff had to wear the black color commemorative polo tee. then for the speech day ceremony we must change into formal wear. i wore a white long sleeve shirt (together with the dark green tie) and black pants.
guess what? my subject head for chemistry came up to me and said i look good in white. hahahahahaaha.
tomorrow is the sch's speech day. all the staff have to wear formal, and we are only allowed to wear colors of black, white or grey. the men have to wear the school tie! hahahaha. its been dunno how long since i wore formal.
anyway i will be going to chiang mai with darling on 16th may! it is a 3D2N trip! a short getaway for the both of us before we embark on our future career as a teacher and pharmacist!
yes! i am happy to announce that i had cleared all my formal observations!
so today's last observation is my chemistry lesson. my lesson is IT-based, because i teach my kids to use the CPS, whereby every kid has a remote control, and when i flash the question, they press the answer on the remote control, the central receiver will get the answers and consolidate on bar chart, showing how many got the correct answer and how many got the wrong answer. very cool!
and to celebrate the ending of our practicum (although still got one week 3 days left), the trainee teachers had a bbq at one of the trainee teacher's condo.
a joyous night of delicious food and great company is the best way to celebrate my final observation!
went to miramar hotel's fern leaf cafe for a buffet dinner with darling, leow chee leong and mak hongsen.
each person 28.80+++. 3 person go and eat, the 4th person eat FOC. good deal rite?
my favourite part of the buffet is the salad section. the prawn salad and chicken salad were awesome. i also like the durian pudding dessert. the durian taste was heavenly!
ok before i end this post, let me share with everyone why the sea is so salty.
i love the 'OFFICIAL' polo tee that was given to us. the color was awesome, which is bright lime green! batman came to us and told us he love the color too. haha.
so today the teachers from 8 different schools in that cluster gathered at tpjc for a fit for live sports carnival.
first activity in the morning is a mass warm up, followed by 2.4 km run and 2.4 km walk.
(check out the little girl! potential dancer!)
(the lady wearing tag number 196 is my subject head for chemistry. the other lady pointing at the camera is my CT for chemistry.)
i was in charge of the health exhibition. my 6 student helpers were very zai and independent, so i feel safe to leave them on their own.
and i went to the wii room with my pe colleague.
(waiting for our turn)
(yes finally its our turn!)
(getting ready)
showcasing to you, the hyperactive teacher vs the normal well-behaved teacher:
(even batman enjoys playing wii!)
i represented the staff to play soccer and volleyball.
soccer we won 1 match and lost 2 matches. the score for the match that we won is 1-0, and i was the scorer! haha.
as for volleyball, only 4 teams entered the competition. my colleagues lost the first two matches (i din play because i was still playing soccer). then for the third match i came in to play and we won! so we got a third!
it is nice to see my pe classmate jieyun today, because her sch is also in the same cluster.
very shag day, but quite happy, because can work together with the pe dept, can play sports with my colleagues and also interact with my students which allowed me to know them better.
good news to share with everyone! i am done with all the pe observations!
tomorrow i have to be at tpjc for the cluster event, which is like a sports carnival for 8 schools in that cluster. my hod is the organising committee chairman. poor him. we have to reach tpjc at 630 am! but he is treating us nasi lemak and soya bean drink for breakfast. hahaha.
here's the group picture of everyone at the arts camp on saturday, including batman.
if you want to know why my camera dun have that group pic, it is because i asked a few st john cadets to take the pics for us, and this particular female cadet dunno how to press the button long enough to capture the picture on my camera. press both palms on the chest and do cpr can, press finger on button to take picture cannot. wat is the world coming to.
anyway i was reading through the reflections of the students who attended the camp. most of them mentioned that they enjoyed listening to my talk, and enjoyed watching my 水袖 performance + my group performance with fen, nzj and zhunian. most importantly they mentioned that they learnt the importance of having technique, expressions and energy in order to shine on stage.
i can only say i am very touched and happy when reading their reflections.
i reached sch at 12 pm and quickly did my slides on the stage presence, while having my lunch. doing things last min can be quite fun, but cannot do that all the time. hahahaha.
so the main focus of my presentation is on the 2 Es and 1 T, in order to have strong stage presence so that the audience will notice you. EXPRESSIONS, ENERGY and TECHNIQUE.
and i used the nuscd pics as good examples. therefore i will like to pay tribute to jingkai, for taking such wonderful pics, and also pay tribute to my fellow dancers, for portraying such strong expressions that can be used as a positive example for my students. *bows*
after my talk i got each performing group to think of a short item to showcase to everyone. there's band, choir, chinese dance, malay dance and english drama. i chose the sexes first part music, and coincidentally my sch's chinese dance girls got perform to that song before! oops... so to be fair i allow the rest of the cca groups to choose their own song. hahaha.
then i went to meet fen, nzj and zhunian. we performed the "sshhhh" dance (choreoed by fen for jitterbugs and dance uncensored). and then fen spoke to the students a bit on dance and then he performed a short segment of sorry sorry, and also taught the steps to some of my students, and everybody did the steps together. overall the whole thing was very fun, and well-received by the students.
thank you fen, nzj and zhunian for coming down all the way to tampines to help me, despite your busy schedule and staying so far. i am willing to lay down my life for you all if help is needed, but if really need me to die pls seek darling's permission first. hahahaha.
zhunian had to rush to church at pasir panjang. so i treated nzj and fen dinner at imperial treasure nan bei restaurant at tampines 1. food was great, but in small portions cos we ordered the set meal for 2.
very tiring day. man u won man city 1 nil! goal was scored at the 92nd minute! super exciting! hahaha.
