drama mama
monday and tuesday were bad days.
on monday morning, my student from my form class brought a knife to school *gasps*, and challenged two of her classmates to take her life.
the two classmates freaked out and ran off. the student went to the second floor female toilet, lock herself up in the cubicle, and slashed her arm.
we found her and confisgated the knife. she was sent for counselling immediately. and right after counselling, she went home with her mum.
on tuesday, police officers came down to collect the statements from the student as well as her two classmates. the police officers came down because one of the classmate's mum made a police report. and the mum was damn angry that such an incident happened and my partner FT have to keep apologising to her.
and it was so coincidental that one of the police officers was my wushu junior in chung cheng! what an awkward scenario to meet up after so many years.
i was with the students and police officers from 11 am all the way until 2 pm. dunno whether it was a blessing that i do not have any teaching periods for that time duration.
hope that such dramatic incidents WON'T happen again. i cannot take it.

Timeless Love
went to nus ucc to watch 'Timeless Love', a dance production by nus chinese dance.
since i joined the troupe in 2007, this was my first time watching nuscd's dance production, which means to say that this was my first time accompanying darling to watch nuscd's production, and it also means that since 2007 until 2013, i have been dancing in every single dance production.
i have been dancing for nuscd for 7 years! now is really a good time to take a break, watch the performance, and reflect on the memories i had with nuscd for the past 7 years.
'Timeless Love' is based on 3 types of love: family love, romantic love and friendship love.
for the family love segment, i totally applaud jingying's role as the granny. she has to bend her back most of the time in order to portray the granny's role, and still dance like a 25 year old dancer (i hope i got her age correct).
the briefcase dance used epic music which i will really enjoy dancing to, but the steps were a bit simple, and i feel sorry for the male dancers. i think they could stretch themselves further with more complex dance steps.
the pdd for romantic love was breathtaking. their chemistry was flawless, the lifts were awesome and... very Michael. hahahaha. throughout my 7 years of dance journey with nuscd and working with different choreographers, i can declare that Michael's lifts are always the most complex which requires alot of physical strength (laval lifting huishi, myself lifting jingwen, hw lifting grace) and cognitive processes (must think through in our mind how to do the lifts effortlessly and also without letting our partners feel uncomfortable).
as for the wedding dance. OMG. only xuehong can pull it off totally. getting any of the other guys (including yours truly) will be pretty awkward. hahahahahaha. zhunian looked stunning in the bright red costume and golden bling bling crown, and her smile is always so radiant.
and finally for the friendship segment, i have to say that i love this segment the most. the four ladies coming out in yellow, pink, blue and green reminds me of my workplace's house system. hahahahaha. but they also triggered my memories of dancing for xuehong's 家人子 item in Efflorescence 2011. i love the shoe binding concept which was portrayed strongly by the 4 ladies who were dancing with the red cloth. the lines they executed were beautiful. i love the lanterns as well as the white fans. all the props make the items look visually stunning. and i am surprised to see nicolette do demure dance with the orange handkerchief. because according to my impression she is always super chor lor, for example in 黄河's last pose she will always arrive beside me unglamly with a loud bang on her knee. :p
THE FINALE. OMG THE FINALE. like what nzj mentioned, the transition from the last item to the finale was so SEAMLESS. i was captivated. i was in awe. of course it was xuehong who arranged the finale. kudos to him!
ok so that's my review. it has been a good 7 years. i really learnt alot, and applied what i learnt at the workplace. honestly speaking, without nuscd, without working with 丁老师，周老师，so many remarkable dancers and choreographers, i wouldnt have so much experience to share with my kids at the workplace.
i really treasure all these memories and strong friendships. it has been a timeless love for me and the pple of nuscd.

today we went to the venue to attend a wedding show. the wedding show consists of food tasting of five dishes, live band performance, as well as photography services.
both of us agreed that it is a very smart move in the business sense, because besides booking ur wedding banquet at a better price (order every 10 tables today can get 1 table free), you can also hire the services of the photography company at the same time, as well as hiring the live band to play/sing songs for your wedding.
honestly we dun need to hire any live band, because as the teacher in-charge of show choir, i think my kids can sing very well too! and we will have no problems if we need wedding dancers, because of our close connections with the pple from nuscd. :)

v day 2014
v day this year was a simple affair, because yesterday i went to extract my wisdom tooth.
as a result, darling's colleague said i am very scheming because of the following:
1) got official reason not to go out
2) cannot eat out
3) you (darling) have to TLC (tendor loving care) him
hahahahahahahahaha~ no comments from me. :p
after dinner at home, i went to darling's house to spend v day together, and we exchanged v day presents (ma chiam super postponed christmas).
and then darling began asking me how many v days we spent together. the answer is 8: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013.
then we start to recap what we did for each year. however as we become older, memory starts to fail us, hence thank goodness i can always refer to yytellmewhy. hahahaha.
2007 - we had v day dinner at jurong point billy bombers, and then after that have to rush back to nus ucc for 'Ethereal' rehearsal.
2008 - v day was spent at darling's room in kevii hall. jessica bought a heart shaped swenson cake for us.
2009 - at darling's house. i bought a puzzle for darling, and darling bought a cake for me~
2010 - at ristorante bologna, a restaurant that serves damn good italian buffet! i bought customised rings for both of us. :)
2011 - bought roses from wilson's family business! collected the roses at vibez together with darling, after that we went to cafe for v day dinner, and then ucc for xqrj!
2012 - early v day dinner at feast@east. hahahahha.
2013 - home cooked dinner at darling's house. it was a wonderful spread!
this year's v day is very special, because it coincides with 元宵!

Sushi Bar is located at 3rd floor of Far East Plaza. very cosy shop with very few seats. be prepared to queue for quite a while, especially during meal times!
Sushi Bar uses the freshest ingredients, and the food is really excellent! they don't charge customers GST and service charge.
