philosophy for year 2012
in year 2012, i promise to be a loving boyfriend, to love darling wholeheartedly, and never to break her heart again.
i will do my best to ensure that i find meaning in my career, and i will take it easy. I will persevere and remember why i like teaching.
as i quote from someone (also into performing arts) who has 9 years of teaching experience:
"As an artist, we tend to push ourselves and I realise, there is no perfect destination. But there is a perfect journey, and that is always rife with disappointments and excitements, failures and successes, frustrations and joys which makes it enriching. weekend post
actually the stag party for hw is very simple lah. we din drink. we din hire a female stripper to do a lap dance on him. we din bring him to somewhere sleazy.
ok lah maybe appearance sleazy a bit.
i brought him, nzj and xue hong to a place called hot spa. located at roxy square. near joo chiat road.
when i met hw at the entrance of the hot spa, he said this to me:
" knn 如果你之前没有跟我讲这里是干净的，lim peh 哪里会相信？"
because right at the entrance of the spa hang two red lanterns. and got the chinese words 乐天宫. loosely translated as pleasure in heaven palace. HAHAHAHA~
but anyway, i must do justice to hot spa because it is really a clean spa. there is a big jacuzzi, a lounge to read magazines and newspapers, a cafeteria where you can order food and drinks, a movie theatre, and of course the massage rooms. we paid 76 dollars each for one hour of massage, and the 76 dollars include all the facilities that i mentioned. the food and drinks at the cafeteria is also free flow one. the menu on that day was 干炒河粉 and 鱼片炉, dessert was barley with ginko, and the drinks provided was barley and lime juice.
so after we shiok finish the massage and spa facilities we went to the 老 hk cafe for supper. the standard of the food is dropping... dun think i will go there again unless i am really desperate.
yup so basically that was the stag party for hw. is not even a party lor. is more of a stag night. and then hor, while we were soaking ourselves in the jacuzzi, hw dropped his hp into the jacuzzi and it malfunction immediately. and then at around 12 midnight when i was on the car with nzj and xuehong, hw's wife called xuehong to find out where hw was. oops~
yesterday watched mission impossible: ghost protocol with darling at IMAX! awesome movie! and you must must must watch at IMAX! is so cool! ma chiam you are really at the country looking at the buildings and towers. haha. after that went to xuehong's house for a christmas gathering.

and this morning i played soccer with my jc friends. and the went out shopping with my army friends. and i bought 3 new shirts and 1 new pants from G2000. cos got sale. haha.
ok the next thing to look forward is tomorrow, which is hw's wedding lunch!

sunday post
remember that on my birthday, bin ge ge bought me a "grow your own crystals" gift?
basically the gift contains a packet of copper(II) sulfate powder, a small ice cream stick to dissolve the powder in hot water, a small pebble for the crystals to grow on it, and of course a transparent bottle to hold that small pebble.
i started the crystal growing process on 13th november, now is 18th december, i shall now unveil the crystal. dunno whether is it a coincidence or a joke by heaven, the crystal looks like a............ body part that belongs to a guy.
if you know me well enough you sure can tell which body part i am talking about. hahaha.
dec holidays coming to an end, academic year 2012 is starting soon.
anyway, if you like to know my expenses for japan, here's the breakdown. people may think that after the earthquake ah, the tsunami ah, and the radiation ah, go japan is very cheap. after looking at my breakdown, you will think otherwise.
hokkaido package tour - 2838.00 (fly by SQ, also inclusive of 2 domestic flights)
tipping for tour leader, tour guide and driver - 84.00
tokyo accomodation for 4 nights - 497.05
shopping, transport, meals and other miscellanous stuff - 2700.00
GRAND TOTAL - 6119.05
wah seh. omg. that is like nearly two months of my salary.
but nvm lah, most importantly i enjoyed myself tremendously with darling. :)

finally! last day of the trip!
went to da bao macdonald breakfast back to our hotel room. then we packed our stuff at checked out at 1030 am. left the luggage at the hotel lobby and off we went to explore tokyo as much as we can for our last day.
first we went to takashimaya times square. very near our hotel. wanted to buy darling's sis birthday present. the takashimaya is BIG. 11 stories high!
next we went to is sensoji, at asakusa station.
another touristy place. the only good thing here is we walked randomly and found a place selling the best unagi rice! :)
this is shiokness to the max!!! very happy~ :)
next we went to akihabara. this place is famous for electronics, toys, manga, maid cafes and... porn stuff. hahahaha.
darling bought a cute iphone case. i bought 4 naruto figurines: the young naruto, the young uchiha sasuke, uchiha itachi and uchiha madara! i din buy any porn stuff. i am a good boy. i chant scriptures and i eat vegetables. OHMMMM~ 色即是空，空即是色。
after that we went back to our hotel lobby to collect our luggage, and drag six pieces of luggage to the shinjuku metro station to board the narita express train to narita airport terminal 1. it is super duper shag! haiz who ask me to buy so much stuff. i suffer alone nvm, darling have to suffer with me also. darling is the most noble gf!!!

we sat A380 back to singapore! our first time taking A380. and we saw michelle fong from nuscd on the plane. coincidence again. hahaha.
and that wraps up japan trip 2011! will go there again in summer! :)

how creative can singaporeans get?!
this few days, when you read newspapers, facebook, and twitter, the common topic is our public transport.
if you are on the train and the train happen to suddenly stop for a few seconds, i think everybody will just freak out.
but anyway, let me showcase the creativity of certain singaporeans. or is it done by the foreign talents staying in sg? hahaha i dunno~

tokyo day 9
it is saturday! as in today is really saturday for now, and i am blogging on tokyo day 9, which was also on a saturday. haha.
first place we went today is the tsukiji fish market. there are people who wake up damn early just to reach the market at 5 to 6 am to watch the tuna auction, but me and darling are not in the right state of mind to do that. we only reach there at 10 am. haha.
before going there, we had our breakfast at doutor to eat their sandwich, strongly recommended by mr nzj.
ok off we go to tsukiji. mr and mrs lai recommend us to eat the sushi at this restaurant called 寿司大.
this is just part of the queue. the queue continues for another 100 metres. no way am i going to queue here.
so off we went to look for a sushi restaurant with the shortest queue.
we chose this!
getting closer and closer! face touch the cloth already.
finally we are in! queued for 35 min. thanks to sudoku (on darling's iphone 4S) and angry bird (on my nokia N8) for keeping us occupied while queuing.
sashimi platter! 3000 yen! 50 sing dollars!
sushi platter! 3650 yen! 60 dollars and 40 cents!

conclusion is, tsukiji fish market is a touristy place, dun expect the food here to be cheap, they will serve high quality food at a high price, so that you eat one time is enough, if they serve high quality food at reasonable price, you sure 流连忘返, and the queue will be 1 km long instead of 100 metres long. but to be very very honest, the sashimi and sushi is really fresh and good! i dun think i will eat sashimi or sushi in sg for the next few months.
after lunch we walked around the market. and we saw this strawberry stall which has beautiful, nice, big, SWEET strawberries.
the uncle actually gave each person ONE big strawberry to try. omg it just taste so good... darling wanted to buy some back for her family but she scared the strawberries will spoil because we will only return home two days later. so she din buy...
our next destination was tokyo tower. and to our surprise, we saw tokyo tower and was so surprised that it was actually so near to our current location.
so we decided to walk there and save our money on the expensive tokyo metro.
yes!!! we are reaching!!!
but then, as we walked to the back of the building, darling said,"eh dear, tokyo tower 不见了!!!"
i was shocked then i look up... and to my utter disappointment, it is just some huge antenna thingy on the top of the building. :(
and then darling said,"dear 你看，这里有很多 mini tokyo tower..."
true enough alot of the buildings have that red and white antenna thingy... BOO HOO HOO~
so we had to walk back to the tsukiji market, and darling decided to buy the strawberries. hahaha. one box for her family, one box for my family.

we purposely chose this day to go odaiba because at 7 pm there will be a fireworks display. thanks to my colleague who told me this. he was there last saturday with his wife. hahaha.

after the fireworks display we went back to shinjuku for dinner. wanted to eat at saizeriya. and i encountered the helpfulness of japanese. there was this lady standing in front of a tonkatsu restaurant. and i asked her where is saizeriya. she smiled at me and pointed a direction and said basement 1. so we walked to where she pointed to and wanted to go down the flight of stairs, then i felt a tap on my shoulder. i turned around and saw the same lady! she waved her hand and ushered me to that correct flight of stairs. OMG!!! so nice of her. this is good service! going out of her way to help us even though we din eat at her restaurant!!!
anyway we saw saizeriya and i was turned off by the long queue! eh it was already 9 pm leh! do tokyo pple eat dinner so late or eat supper so early?! my stomach could not take it already so we went to find other places, and we found this udon shop!
the food here is not bad, and is quite cheap! we ordered two bowls of udon, 1 pumpkin tempura, 1 tori karage, and the whole meal cost us 1000 yen only! cheapest meal we had throughout the trip! darling really loved this place alot. :)
all right, left with tokyo day 10 and i am done with the japan trip blogging! and sch is starting soon... :(
