darling's early birthday celebration

darling's birthday is actually on 4th april. and she shares the same birthday with yang zong wei and chen qiao en! woo hoo.

because on the actual day i will celebrate with her, and on fifth april she will celebrate with her buddies, so her family celebrates with her yesterday, and i am invited to her house to celebrate together too! :)

so before going to her house, i went to collect her present. guess wat i bought for her?

a very happy darling with the tulips and melody. melody was from japan's hello kitty land, which i bought for darling as a souvenir from my japan trip last year. the reason why i bought melody because darling was born in the year of the rabbit.

rabbit again! darling's 姐姐 bought it. initially she wanted to buy a bikini cake for darling, due to darling's wonderful assets.

the birthday dinner was damn shiok. we had 鱼片火锅，prawn fritters, brocolli flower & cauliflower with scallops, and stewed pork with sea cucumber.

we were all very full after the dinner. so darling and i went down to the park to walk walk and exercise at the fitness stations.

it was a very nice walk. with the cooling night breeze blowing at our faces. :)

生无可恋？| Shattered

to understand wat message is this dance portraying to the audience, you must first understand the synopsis:

爱已逝，梦已碎，一切皆已化为乌有。

就连生，也在无可恋。

离开就不会痛...但表面的解脱，并非彻底的解决。

它，只不过掩 饰了更深的逃避。

When love is gone,

dreams are unfulfilled,

hopes are dashed and life is broken,

suicide and death seems to be the only way out...

But is it?

the first time i saw this dance, i was moved by it. i dun mind seeing it again, again and again. but i noe i cant be so selfish, because wanting to see Shattered again, again and again, the dancers must dance again, again and again, and they will die, die and die, because i noe this dance is a physically and emotionally shag item. haha.

this dance really creates a strong impact on the audience, and it is most fitting to be the last item of Psyche.

from the bottom of my heart, Shattered is my favourite item for Psyche.

michael is a wonderful choreographer, and he always choreo masterpieces for the arts fest performances. last year ethereal performance my favourite item is chinois blues, also choreo-ed by him.

and i am honoured to be able to dance in 2 of his items for DR2008. yay! so i must train hard on my technique and not ruin his items. :p

the dance pple told me that i can act very well, and i am very good in doing my emotions.

i do enjoy acting, but seriously, for this item, i just feel very uncomfortable to act out my role as a "sweeper".

during the rehearsals and full runs, i am always very stressed, because i am the first person to come out, to start the ball running for the dance, and it is very hard for me to get into character. i have to force myself to act everything out.

i enjoy acting in winter solstice and distance, but dunno why, i just cant seem to enjoy acting in dare to dance.

but thankfully, when the performances came, i was already used to it, and so it gets easier for me to get into my character. i was really happy when one of my hall friends said she likes this item, because it is very funny, especially the part when i was doing all my stupid stuff.

that one positive comment is enough to make me happy. i dun care already if there are 99 bad comments. haha.

reflecting back on the performance, i dun think i got achieve any 突破 in my acting.

in fact some of the dancers did achieve it, for example zj, xinyi and clarissa, who teared in the last performance for distance.

jingwen, and many of the shattered dancers, also had tears in their eyes.

i really really wished to 完全投入 into my character in distance, and have tears upon i saw xinyi hugging zj. but the tears just nv came.

well, although the tears din come, i just hope my emotions are sufficient in touching the audience. not only my emotions. zj, xinyi and clarissa as well. dancing is a team effort. and i believed we did it.

strange, this is supposed to be a blog post on dare to dance, yet i am talking more on distance. haha.

one of the things i like about dare to dance is i get to do hip hop! for the first time! but looking at the video, i noe that i am totally not suitable for hip hop. i shall just stick to chinese dance. but i also must stress that i am not that good at chinese dance either, but at least better than hip hop. =p

a very fun night to remember. although I am not the graduating student. haha...

batam - last day

without realising it, here comes the last day in batam.

after having our breakfast, we went back to the hotel and start to pack our things.

a last photo before leaving the hotel room:

upon completion of the check-out procedure, we embarked on our batam sight-seeing tour. first of all, we went shopping.

i bought a pirated set of argentina away soccer jersey for myself. it only cost me 20 sing dollars. should have bought a few more sets, since they are so cheap, and they look very real.

i also bought two sets of couple wear for me and darling. i love the words on the t-shirt. haha.

besides shopping, we went to pray at places of worship.

first, is the biggest buddha temple in batam, where it has a super big and tall buddha statue.

the temple also has a statue of 关公，who is also known as 关羽 or 关云长. he is my favourite character in "romance of the three kingdoms". i admire him not only for his bravery and tremendous fighting capability on the battlefield, but most importantly his own character. he has his own set of strict principles and moral values, and treats the word 义 with utmost importance. 对身边的朋友兄弟肝胆相照，从不忘恩负义。i believe this kind of 气概 is what everybody should emulate.

secondly, and lastly, is the biggest dua pek gong temple in batam.
