the "last" day of work

today is officially the "last" day of work. the reason why i put the inverted commas is because other teachers had their "last" day earlier. 

2012 has been quite a happening year for me. although i personally felt that 2011 was more memorable, because of the B2B concert. 

anyway let's have a recap of what happened at the workplace in the whole of 2012!

Jan 2012:

performed together with the students from wushu and modern chinese dance, for CNY concert. xuehong was the choreographer. the gals look great, the guys look ordinary, because of the dull track suits. we should wear the bright yellow wushu costumes. 


Mar 2012

Speech Day 2012, whereby I received the OCA award from the guest of honour. 

i was again the performance coordinator for Speech Day 2012. this was much smaller scale as compared to b2b. super proud of the 16 ladies above because they are the first batch of students from the various performing arts ccas to put up a dance item together, titled Metamorphosis. the item was very well received. students and colleagues came up to me to tell me how much they love it and it was really impressive. :)


May 2012:

brought show choir students to esplanade to perform for the public!

the last day of semester 1! Metamorphosis was published in the school newsletter! :) 


July 2012 (the craziness begin because that's when my core events come in):

show choir students competing in Singapore Inter School Show Choir Challenge 2012. kudos to Miss OCA 2012 for getting the nice costumes! :)

and they did the school proud by winning the CHAMPION!!! could never forget this day. we really spent alot of time preparing and practising for this. i remembered that during the practise session they were so screwed up, Miss OCA 2012 and myself totally freaked out, and we have to make them practise numerous times inside the classroom until we feel that they are 101% ready.

Sept 2012:

went to CCAB to take part in a soccer tournament with my colleagues. we won all the preliminary matches but lose in the quater finals. a bit disappointed but we were still happy because it was a good bonding time with the colleagues!


Oct 2012:

farewell assembly for the graduating students.

 show choir celebration party at vibez studio.

last day of school for the sec 1s and 2s. my last day as the form teacher of 2E1!

cca exchange between show choir and soccer. pls dun ask me why show choir chose soccer to do the cca exchange. or vice versa. hahahahahaha. 


Nov 2012:

sharing my experience on teaching sexuality education to the colleagues. hahahahaha. 

and i am pleased to announce my holiday plan.

2 dec to 8 dec: macau and hong kong

12 dec to 15 dec: phillipines

and i have dyed my hair to a shocking golden brown colour. totally stunned some of my colleagues who saw my new image. i stunned robin #1 also. 

bumped into batman today and said hi. he did not spot my golden brown hair because i was wearing a cap. he said to me:"Nice cap!" and walked away. haha.

accomodation at hk: AIR BNB

i am going to macau and hk with my fiancee.

flying off on 2 dec, tiger airways, to macau. we will be staying at macau for 2 nights. on 4 dec we will take ferry to hk and stay at hk for another 4 nights!

initially i was staying at marco polo hotel at hk. a very atas hotel. we have to pay around 200 sing dollars per night. so for that room alone we have to pay 800 sing dollars. 

yesterday, my youngest sis told me about air bnb. it is a website whereby the locals in the country lease out their apartments for tourists, and at a very affordable rate! my youngest sis came to know about air bnb because when she was touring new york she also stayed in the apartment, and it was very good! 

without further ado, i quickly googled "airbnb hong kong". and i have lots of choices! but because i was a bit too last minute, alot of rooms were already taken up.

until i came across this prized gem, that is still available during my stay in hk:

very very good right?! and i went to read the online reviews, and they were all singing praises. onz liao lah. what am i waiting for?

quickly went to book it, and got accepted! quickly went to cancel the marco polo hotel booking. thank goodness dun need to pay any cancellation charges for marco polo hotel.

the best thing is we are paying 318 sing dollars for 4 nights! 

mr xuehong and mr nzj, next time if you want to go hk, can consider the apartments at air bnb! they have apartments for 8 people!  

night walk - 16.8 km

darling is going for a 50 km charity walk on 15 december. it is really quite daunting for any sane person to walk that amount of distance for the very first time. 

so i decided to give darling a "rehearsal". we walked from her house to khatib mrt station (using the bus 969 route). from khatib mrt station we walk through housing estates, went to ktph, and the same route again back to admiralty station. 

we celebrated our achievement by having supper at macdonald's. hahaha.

we started walking at 10 pm. in total we walked for 16.8 km, at a total time of 3 hours 28 min 22 seconds. our average walking speed is 12 min 24 seconds per km. and we burnt a total of 997 calories! all these information proudly brought to you by RunKeeper. go download the app! thank you nzj for the recommendation!

later i am watching opera warriors at kallang theatre at 8 pm, with my parents and also with darling! any nuscd pple watching also? 

farewell lunch for Miss OCA 2012

robin #1 wants to give eudora tan a farewell lunch treat. so i recommended Dozo, the fine dining jap cuisine restaurant that i went for my little sis birthday. robin #1 readily agreed, even though the price is super steep. :p

workplan seminar

today is the workplan seminar, held at one of the function rooms of aranda country club. aranda country club is beside downtown east. 

besides the usual work-related stuff that we need to discuss during the seminar, one thing to look forward is the presentation of Outstanding Contribution Awards to well-deserved staff who made significant contributions. 

i missed the workplan seminar last year as i was attending a health conference held at republic poly. so some of my colleagues sms-ed me to congratulate me, when it was announced that i won the outstanding contribution award. i remembered that i was very happy at that moment, because a few congratulatory sms-es came in, notably from my boss, chew wei lip (the SEK aka special effects king), eudora tan, victor and rene (both victor and rene nominated me). 

this afternoon, i was very looking forward to the announcement of Outstanding Contribution Awards, because i have nominated eudora tan. she really did alot for show choir as the teacher in-charge. and i firmly believe that she deserved some recognition. as such i wrote a 7-page long nomination report for her. 

so as 师母 (my chemistry mentor) was about to announce the results, she read the synopsis of the winner. the moment she read the first sentence, i straight away knew that eudora had won the award because that sentence was from my report! i was really very very happy for her. i glanced at her and she was on the verge of tearing. 

her eyes are still a bit red and swollen from the crying. hahahahahaha. 

and i got intel from 师母 that i am the only person who nominated her, my report has the most number of pages among all the other nomination reports, and my report is also the most well-written with solid evidence, hence it was an unanimous decision from the panel to declare her as the winner. :)

after that the deployment for 2013 was announced. i am still the head of arts committee. next year will be even more busy because batman has identified the niche of the workplace to be performing arts. hence i definitely have more work to do compared to 2012. 

and i am the show choir teacher in-charge because eudora is going to australia for further studies at the beginning of 2013. boo hooo hooo. i feel super stressful to take over her because she set a very high baseline. 

but nvm! i shall embrace all challenges next year with open arms! :)

i will know my form class deployment tomorrow also. *STRESSED*

originally wanted to get the nokia lumia 900, but the sharp edges turn me off. so i opt for nokia lumia 610, but it is out of stock.

and they gave me a birthday surprise! so sweet of them~

and they gave me a "birthday bash" by pushing me down the pool. not once. but thrice. hahahaha. those mischievous kids. 

change to dry clothes! from cute monkey to aggressive muay thai boxer. haha.

one week anniversary of the proposal

exactly one week later from the auspicious date of 10 November 2012, whereby darling nodded her head and agreed to be my fiancee.

this morning gorgeous grace started the whatsapp group alive again, saying that she was super excited on that day. haha. 

anyway i was rummaging through our photos of previous years, i found something that i made for her to commemorate our 4th year anniversary. some of you might have seen it. for those who din, or those who dun mind seeing it again, here you go!!!
