初七 - 人日

today is 人日, which is everybody's birthday!

the afternoon was spent at my jc classmate baozhen's place. every year we will always have steamboat at her house. she prepares and provides all the food. what a wonderful host. :)

(she uses heinz chicken broth soup as 汤底. add in corn, 当归 and 枸杞子 to enhance the soup. power!)

(i love to open her fridge to see the different varieties of chocolates)

(both of us are teachers and we have big tummies! hahaha.)

at night i went to furama riverfront hotel with my family for a reunion dinner with the relatives from my mum's side. the hotel restaurant serves international buffet. the most popular food is lobster laksa, whereby the queue is never-ending. their desserts section is not bad too, they have ice kachang, hot soya bean grass jelly, nyonya kueh, pretty cakes, chocolate fondue and even swenson ice cream!

final stop of the day is at darling's house. must spend more quality time with her because in the next few weeks i will be super busy with sch stuff and she will also be super busy with her tests and fyp.

last day in nie

finally, here comes our last day in nie. next monday, we will embark on the hell journey of 10 weeks. we are the practicum trainees in the schools, the lowest life form, getting scrutinised, getting observed, and being pushed around. haiz this suck.

we had a fitness & conditioning test in the morning. it was quite a difficult test, not because the questions are difficult, but because most of us never really study! we were too "looking forward" to practicum and thus we simply dun have the studying mood.

after the test we had a class lunch at ntu sakae sushi. not the whole class went lah. only half the class.

good luck to everyone! hope you will enjoy your ten weeks in the school! teachers are professionals, and the school exists for children!

softball module

this is my final sports module in nie.

we get to choose between softball, tennis and hockey. i confirm dun want hockey because it is a very tiring sport. you have to keep bending your body and run like mad. it is not very good for the back. and the stick looks super dangerous too.

so i am left with tennis or softball. tennis is a bit impracticable because most of the schools do not have tennis courts. even if they have there is at most two tennis courts. squeezing a class of 40 students in two tennis courts is crazy.

of course the most favourable choice is softball! softball is a team sport, which emphasize on team work. softball can also be played outdoors or indoors, so even if raining, no problem. although i must admit that i had my fears about softball initially because i joined the softball team when i was in primary sch. but during one of the training sessions when we were practising throwing and catching, it was my turn to catch the ball but i was dreaming, and the ball hit my face. btw the ball used in softball is not soft at all. IT IS VERY VERY VERY HARD. so from that incident onwards i condemn softball. hahahaha.

but during the course of this module, i love softball more and more. it is really fun! i think the kids will like it. i definitely do not regret taking this softball module. and also the lecturer teaching us is a super nice and funny guy. and he is also my practicum supervisor! yes lah!

(this is my lecturer. of course i will not say his name for fear that he will find my blog. haha.)

among us we have a super pro softball player. he is in the ntu ivp team. always help us when we have difficulties with the sport, and give us alot of tips to improve. thank you weixiong!

enjoy the pics of me in action!

1) batting

2) scoring a run at home base

3) pitching

4) fielding as first baseman

5) fielding as outfielder

lastly, a group photo with the lecturer!

thank you everyone for the fun and enjoyment in this softball module! :)

初三 post

the cny long break is over in a flash. good things come to an end very fast. so the morale of the story is be a bad guy, so u can live longer.

all rite anyway, today i went to zhongyi's house to 拜年, KC brought along his pet dog anzer, and this is my first time being so close in contact with a furry animal. anzer ran past my legs countless times, lick my arm, sat on my thighs and groin, and i was so scared that it will pee on my jeans. thankfully it din, cos anzer is really a good and obedient dog.

(zhongyi and family)

(group photo!)

3 days of heaven left. tomorrow, i have a softball test, which i din really study. but i have to do well because my softball lecturer is also my practicum supervisor. thursday, i have two hours of softball lesson in the morning, then in the afternoon i will go to my workplace to meet my bosses. i hope i get good CTs. haha. friday i have a fitness & conditioning test, and i also have to submit my final chemistry assignment, but i think i will submit it on thursday.

and not to forget, i got dance practises on wednesday night and friday night.

so it will be damn busy for me in the next three days. haiz want to enjoy and nua my remaining 3 days in heaven also cannot.

hell starting on 22nd feb!!! haha wish me luck. i wonder whether the workplace has changed much ever since i left two years ago. hope the good things still remain, and the bad things have improved.

amazing 春节 performances

1) after ten over years of separation, 小虎队 gathered together once again on stage to perform!

2) a dance + wushu combined performance, using the concept of chinese chess! thanks xue hong for sharing this video with me!

大年初一

this year is the most chop chop in terms of 拜年.

we left the house at 12 pm and reach home at 345 pm for afternoon siesta. then 730 pm left the house again to go to my grandma's place for dinner.

anyway, i will like to show everyone what i am wearing. think of PAP going gay.

.

.

(ok nvm if its not funny. at least i tried. haha.)

plus the beautiful pink shoes, woo hoo, damn AA.

drove to darling's place to spend a few hours with her, because its v day! we just lie on the bed and chit chat, sit on the sofa and watch tv, eating durian ice cream from the newly opened ice cream cafe near my house. simplicity is bliss.

early v day celebration @ ristorante bologna

since v day happens to fall on 大年初一, and both of us are obedient children who value family ties and encompass traditional virtues, we decide to still 拜年 with our own families on 初一, thus we brought forward our v day celebrations to friday, which is today.

darling is using uob credit card, and uob is having this promotion of 1 for 1 buffet at some restaurants, so after doing some elimination, we are left with the 2 best choices. aquamarine restaurant (typical fusion buffet) and ristorante bologna (ITALIAN buffet). i went to search the food reviews and the majority of the foodie population favoured aquamarine more, but then in one of the food reviews, it said that aquamarine must call to book 2 weeks in advance! wassup!

but i still tried to call on monday and true enough, reservations are full. so i quickly made a reservation with ristorante bologna, and thank goodness there is a table for the both of us!

btw marina mandarin is linked to marina square by some secret doorway. and behold, this is the restaurant:

(its the one on the 4th floor. darling is standing on the 5th floor.)

so the buffet got 5 sections - the appetiser section, the salad section, the soup + pasta section, the main course section and finally the desserts.

the appetiser got many dishes:

1) two different kinds of ham where both kinds are very very very nice. its the best ham i ever tasted.

2) smoked salmon with onions as garnish. even the onions taste very nice.

3) morazella cheese with tomato, which both of us din try. we scared the cheese flavour is a bit too strong for us.

4) potato salad which is not very outstanding.

5) hard-boiled eggs with mayonise and cherry tomatoes. the eggs are very fresh and very nice.

the main course section:

1) chicken with asparagus. chicken is very hard. but the asparagus is very very nice.

2) tomato pasta

3) seafood - MUSSELS, PRAWNS, SCALLOPS AND LALAS. this one is our fav of the day! we had dunno how many helpings.

4) crabmeat rivoli. very creamy.

5) fried dory filet

6) beef (cannot eat)

dessert section got different varieties of cakes, jellies and tarts! look very colorful, pretty and appetising.

ok enough describing. pics tell a thousand words.

(soup of the day is cream pumpkin soup)

(darling look more pretty than the desserts)

after the full and satisfying lunch we went to watch 苏乞儿! is very nice! 赵文卓's fighting is still damn awesome! i think is a nicer show than 锦衣卫.

and this is wat i got for darling as a v day present:

couple rings! i like to clarify its not engagement rings. got our initials and birth dates engraved on it.

darling, thank you for being together with me for this 3 years 3 months plus! thank you for bearing with my shortcomings, embracing my longcomings, and loving me who i am. i love you very much too~

ok very mushy. haha.

to end this post, i will like to wish everyone a happy TIGER year!!! xin jia tua tan!!! HUAT AH!!!

acsm course

this evening i received a letter, and on the envelope says "ON GOVERNMENT SERVICE".

i got a serious bad feeling about this and quickly tear open the envelope, and to my utter shock, i am called up to serve the nation by attending the Armour Company Sergeant Major (ACSM) course from 16th august to 6th september.

that is a total of 3 weeks leh! wassup!

but the good news is, YOG is from 14th to 26th august, and the handball competition is 20th to 25th august. so that means... i can apply for deferment!

i only scared that my RSM will du lan me because he is trying his very best to enrol me into the course every year but every year i always siam the course for one reason or another, and i will like to clarify that i am not trying very hard at all to siam, its just that i am not fated to attend the course. so it looks like i am also not fated to attend the course this year.

this week is the second last week in and-ai-yi, i am very very very sad because i will be leaving my lovely classmates. i will definitely miss them. :'(

(the guy on the extreme left is our fitness & conditioning lecturer, called mr azhar. he is in his late thirties but is fitter than all of us. 2.4 km can run under 9 min. pull-ups can do more than 20. not only he is fit, he is also very charismatic and a very good lecturer. mr azhar rulez!)

sg air show 2010

the above mentioned happened last weekend. its an event that i will really love to attend, having attended it in year 2004, when i was still in the army and i dunno why i got free exclusive passes.

but after reading this two blog posts 2 years ago, i am absolutely turned off and decided not to waste my time.

so here are the two different blog posts:

1) http://www.weikiat.net/blog/2008/02/23/singapore-airshow-2008/

2) http://www.jialat.com/2008/02/23/long-post-with-photos-why-the-hell-i-toutured-myself-visiting-the-fiacking-airshow/

the queuing is seriously kua zhang to the max.

anyway, i happen to chance upon my friend's friend's friend photo album of the airshow in facebook. omg this friend's friend's friend really took very beautiful pics of the aeroplanes. his camera must be the damn solid kind, and of course his photography skills very solid.

RSAF F-16C

RSAF F-16C & AH-64 APACHE

USAF A-10 THUNDER BOLT II

ROKAF T-50 GOLDEN EAGLE

USAF F-15

and lastly...

(dunno wat model is that)

----------------------------------------------------------

today i got a 2.4 km test and my timing is 10:12! fastest in the class is king, who ran 8:54... yup i think around there.

dinah chan, the ex-national triathlete but current national cyclist ran 8:57! second fastest in the class, and fastest among the girls, and thrash all the guys in the class, except for king. hahaha.

武状元

went to victoria theatre to watch the wushu performance 武状元 with my jc friend jasmine chin, whom i had known for 10 years. yes i came to realise now is already 2010, and i entered tjc in the year 2000. and it seemed that 2000 just happened not long ago.

i think victoria theatre is an awesome place to perform at. the performance was also magnificient, although can spot some minor glitches, but then its their first show, which mistakes may happen. its really shiok to sit with the audience and enjoy the performance. but then again, seeing them perform makes me want to perform on stage too! hahaha.

this is the first time sg have so many wushu athletes from the beijing national team coming down here to perform. there are altogether 8 of them, but in my opinion, 3 of them stand out from the rest.

1) 刘清华 - 屡次获得全国冠军,亚洲冠军,世界冠军.

i saw her perform in 1999, at the martial arts display held at singapore indoor stadium. i remember she wore a pale yellow costume with red shoes. and she was quite pretty. now she still look pretty, except that she is lao chio. haha.

2) 吴迪 - 08年全国武术套路冠军赛 - 枪术冠军,08年全国武术传统赛 - 醉剑冠军,09年世界武术锦标赛- 枪术冠军.

he is the main attraction throughout the whole performance. his face is on the publicity poster. he is the only person who has a personal slide show during his performance on stage. but seriously, he is AWESOME.

3) 李昕豫 - 08年全国武术套路冠军赛 - 太极剑冠军.

also very chio. and very tall. oh yah, very flexible too.

i feel inspired to choreo wushu routines after watching such a magnificient wushu performance. a good wushu routine must also have a good song. and i will really really love to choreo an item with this piece of music from gundam seed.

so its good that i am posted back to my contract sch on a permanent basis and taking charge of the wushu team. but i will need to put in alot of effort to bring up the standard.

rasa world sentosa

went to sentosa with darling to check out the newly built hotels and casino.

the casino is still not in operation. still can see many renovation works around the IR. but the interior of the hotels is magnificient. every hotel is unique and has its own special design. i think hard rock hotel is the most cool.

(darling can be a model)

there is this water fountain laser show that happens every night at 930 pm. so at 925 both of us were seated, getting ready to enjoy the show. but who noes SM Goh is also coming down to watch the show and so the show can only start when he arrive. he came at ten pm. -.-'''

there was an uncle sitting beside us and he chatted with us on the ministers of singapore. haha. talk about the previous ministers for foreign affairs were all indians, until george yeo took over who is the first chinese. and so happen i saw george yeo's facebook page! he has 8000+ friends! wassup man. hahahaha. anyway the uncle is very knowledgeable with regards to the singapore ministers and wat positions they are holding. i think i should get to noe more about our ministers too, just in case students ask me next time and i dunno, si bei lao kui. i am supposed to spread national education, promote nation building.

the water fountain laser show was a bit boring. i prefer the ones that i saw at macau. super breath-taking.

anyway pls use the chance right now to visit the resort, because there is still alot of parking space, and not too many pple.

friday post

just now i was taking the train home, a small incident happened.

my hp and ez link card (with a cash value of 25 bucks) was inside my right pocket. and then i saw an empty seat and went to sit down. i took out my hp, and in the process of taking out my hp, my ez link card drop out of my pocket, and drop into the opening beside the seat (if you can visualise wat i am talking about)!!!

so i nearly freak out and try to use another card to insert into the opening to "giao" the ez link card out. but the attempt was unsuccessful. and then i tried using my key. also unsuccessful. i was attracting a few curious stares so i stopped.

when the train reached bedok and there were fewer pple, i tried again using my gold buddha card. and the swayest thing that happened is i dropped the gold buddha card into the opening also!!! si bei sian!

so i took the train all the way to pasir ris, wait for the smrt staff to come out of his cabin. thankfully he got the key to the compartment below the seat. so he opened the compartment and i retrieved both my ez link card and gold buddha card! thank goodness.

but when i reach pasir ris it was already close to 12 midnight. no more buses no more trains back to tampines. so have to take cab which cost me 6 bucks. SIAN!!!

ok anyway, my friend just uploaded some photos of me dancing for the overseas delegates at city beach resort! hahaha. check out the gay purple costume and striking red wushu shoes!

this dance is really quite shag, but is still very enjoyable to do because of the fast moving actions and super cool dance poses. besides 清男, its another one of my favourite dance choreography!

tuesday post

dear all, i am happy to announce that my cough has finally recovered after dunno how many weeks! darling ask me to take note of the new medicine that the doctor prescribed for me so that when the cough comes again i can ask for these medicine. but the unfortunate thing is i totally cant make out the handwriting that is written on the medicine packets and bottles. -.-'''

during these few weeks i am like a 药罐子, trying all sorts of medicine or methods just to make my cough recover. ricola elder flower, hacks, 金嗓子, 咳嗽茶, 杏仁露, and also some medicine powder from this chinese medical shop. i think i had spent hundreds of dollars on these stuff. :(

anyway, yesterday night i was invited to a chalet that was organised by one of my pe classes during my contract sch. i got quite a shock when i reach there, because some of them are only 17 this year, and the transformation that took place on them is totally... hideous and unbecoming.

(these are the normal ones, thank goodness)

got one boy have piercings all over his face. some boys are smoking cigarettes. another group of boys and girls are smoking shee-sha (i dunno whether i spell that correctly). haiz. wat had happened to them?

just an example:

2 years ago, when this boy is 15 years old.

now.

although hairstyle is unbecoming, but the good thing is i nv see him smoke.

so, are we moulding the future pillars of the nation? let us reflect and ponder.
