yesterday evening my photographer msg me to tell me that the holi powder that we are using for this sunday's photoshoot can be found at mustafa. so i drove to mustafa and i got a shock with the numerous indians over there and it should be known as Gigantic India.
i had to park the car at city square mall, and i combed the different mustafa buildings for an hour, and still couldnt find the holi powder. i gave up and went back home, and was irked by the one hour parking fee of $3.50.
this morning i went to ask my HOD (who is indian) where to buy the holi powder. and he told me tampines round market has a indian mama shop that sells it, and the tampines round market is 5 min walk from my school! woo hoo! i went to try my luck during lunch hour and ta da!! got sell! sense of jubilation!
i bought 3 packs of this! 1 pack to try out this afternoon with audrey yong. 2 packs for this sunday's photoshoot with darling!

and after that i went to have dinner with my colleagues miss chua and miss chen. we just finished our marking so we need to reward ourselves with good food. especially for the both of them because they are english teachers and english teachers take very very very long to mark as they must mark numerous essays with horrendous grammar and sentence structures and vocabulary. now i hope that my english teacher did not vomit blood while marking my essay back in secondary school. hahaha.
dinner was at 金隆, bedok ave 2. i forgot the block number. at first my colleagues did not have high expectations because is a chinese seafood restaurant located at a hdb block. but when the food comes, OMG. we were all blown away. and after we came there were many customers and then we realise how popular this restaurant is!
this was the favourite dish of the night! salted egg prawn balls!
this meal cost us $65.50. a bit expensive but the food was really good!
next we walked over to Fat Cat for ice cream. Fat Cat is located at 416 bedok north ave 2. we ordered their signature black waffles with salted egg sauce, with two ice creams that look like SG50. we also ordered their signature mojito lime balls!

i had a health check up on tuesday. prior to the health check i had to fast for 10 hours. which means when i woke up on tuesday morning i cannot eat breakfast. i can only drink plain water. luckily i scheduled my health check early in the morning at 830 am.
so i measured my blood pressure. the first time reading was at 158! my normal blood pressure should be less than 130. the lady was also shocked to see my blood pressure was so high, and she tell me to measure again. after 15 min i go and measure again, using a different machine. this time it was 148. i got a bit worried and told darling. darling was worried also, and tell me to have a healthy diet and stop drinking gravy.
for the next few days i was still in a state of shock because i cant get over the fact that i have high blood pressure at such a young age. ok lah i am 31 approaching 32 already not that young anymore, but still it is hard for me to absorb the truth.
darling bought me a blood pressure monitor so that my parents and i can use it to measure daily. my father has high blood pressure too.
and so i measured my blood pressure in the afternoon. 122! woo hoo. i felt assured.
in the evening i measure again. 104!
i will measure again tomorrow morning. tomorrow morning shall conclude whether both machines on tuesday were wrongly calibrated.
went to The Gown Warehouse this evening to try out my suit. darling tried out her blue evening gown too. :)
we are excited about next sunday's pre-wed photoshoot! we are meeting our photographer tomorrow to discuss the details.
i am still at the workplace because i am staying overnight for a camp.
i enjoy coming to the workplace. the workplace is like a 3rd home to me. (second home is darling's house hee hee)
the workplace has almost everything: toilet for me to bathe, super fast internet connection, science lab to make potions, F&N kitchen to make kimchi salmon, field and indoor sports hall to play all kinds of sports, xbox to play winning eleven, etc etc. i can easily stay here for 2 or 3 nights without getting bored.
today i had a conversation with the VP. she told me she has a headache of getting someone to fill in my role when i am leaving at the end of this year.
VP: i know you are very passionate and very dedicated. and you have the credibility, that's why all the students respect you and listen to you. can recommend me someone to take over your role? 不需要跟你一样热忱啦，有你的 50% 就可以了。
i smiled. i am thankful to have a superior who acknowledges me.
as for my successor, i shall just hope for the best that he/she can bring the show choir and the performing arts to greater heights. :)
went to paddy hills with darling, her mum, her sis and her niece for lunch!
paddy hills is very near nus, and before paddy hills was a duck rice shop, and i always drive past there when travelling to and fro between kevii and vivocity.

squid ink tagliatell ($23). not bad! very special.
berry ricotta hotcake ($19). still cannot win the tabard inn pancakes (at washinton DC). but we are still thankful we ordered this because the niece can eat the berries. she love eating berries!
kimchi fried rice ($20). this was a bit disappointing. dun order!
potato and fish ($22). this dish is da bomb!!! must order!!!

after lunch we went to utown to recce for indoor places for our pre-wed photoshoot, if it rains. our pre-wed photoshoot is on 24 may!

this three days (wed to fri) the workplace is going through external validation, whereby a group of Ps and VPs and assessors will come down and validate all our SOPs and processes, and they will interview the school leaders, the HODs, the SHs, the teachers and also the students, to see if all the SOPs and processes are really in place.
and so today was my turn to be interviewed, with a few other colleagues. we were interviewed on admin, operations and data management. the whole interview went well, and we are lucky that our interviewer is a really nice guy and we had lots of fun chatting with him. :)
in the evening i went to meet xuehong, nzj and meizheng, who just came back from mauritius. hearing them telling me their mauritius stories stirred great memories of 2009, when i went to mauritius with xuehong, nzj and some other nuscd dancers. we went to wheeler's yard for dinner, and it is a really nice place! great ambience with great food!

it is time to announce my june holidays travel plans! #excited
firstly, i will be going to batam with darling, and her family. we are staying at holiday inn batam. i have stayed at holiday inn batam 3 times already (twice with army friends and one time with darling), and i always enjoyed myself. we will be staying there for 2 nights. this time i rented a mini bus to bring us on a tour around batam. we will be going to places like local products shop, polo ralph lauren factory outlet, kueh lapis shop, shopping centres and seafood restaurant.
there is 8 of us in total: 7 adults + 1 child. and we are staying in 2-bedroom suites. woo hoo!! take note that we are staying in 2 x 2-bedroom suites. :D
and then when i come back from batam, two days later i will be going to JB for seafood feast with the pe classmates KC and zhenhong!
the following week i will embark on my first bromance trip with my colleague, who also share the same surname as me. we will be going to vietnam for 7 days 6 nights, covering hanoi, halong bay and sapa. mr tan is 9 years older than me, and he also teaches chemistry. i am sure we will have good chemistry as travelling companions, and it will be an interesting trip. hahahahaha.
at hanoi we will be staying at JW marriott.
at halong bay we will stay at a cruise for one night. the name of the cruise is fantasea.
at sapa we will do a homestay at one of the villages. sapa is a really beautiful place, but the bad thing is we have to trek for at least 12 km in order to witness for ourselves the beautiful scenery of sapa.
after the june hols, the next holiday to look forward to is our honeymoon! darling and i will be going to japan! in 2011 we went to hokkaido and tokyo. 2015 we will be going to osaka, nara and kyoto! can't wait! :)
went to brussels sprouts for dinner, followed by dessert at little ice cream kafe (LICK), with my pe colleagues.
there were 5 of us, and we ordered 4 pots of mussels: brussels sprouts signature, creamy sauce with blue cheese (this one is damn jalat and even i also cannot take it), laksa, and lobster bisque. my favourite one was the laksa. if you order the mussels there is also free flow of fries. we spammed the fries like no one's business.
there was one for one promotion for beer, so each of us had 500ml of hoegarden. the beer was good! one of the nicest beer i ever tasted. and surprisingly i am still very alert after drinking the beer. as i grow older, i can hold my liquor better? hahaha.
both the ice cream and waffle was good! it is quite a nice place to chill. and we saw lina ng (黄嫊芳), who was celebrating her birthday.
next time can bring darling there. :)
