day 2 & 3 - sukau (part 1)

sukau is a very very very nice place. all 4 of us love it alot, especially the place that we stayed. its called sukau b&b. it is like a malay kampong, situated by the bank of the main river, and surrounded by the forest.

its very peaceful and tranquil. the malay kids play by the river, play with toy cars, and they have even stepped into the working society. they served us our food during meal times, and all of us were so impressed. this is the kind of childhood that i want my kids to have. not staring long hours at this device called PSP, not playing with sophisticated and expensive toys like transformers or power rangers.

the meals that we ate are home cooked food. each person have to pay 10 ringgit for every meal (lunch and dinner). there will always be a dish of vegetables, a dish of chicken, a dish of prawns, and white rice. the prawns are very special. firstly they are super big in size. secondly their heads are super big too. and their heads also contain meat and alot of 虾膏, which is super damn high in cholesterol.

there was a ang mor family staying there too, and they are very nice pple. we always chit chat with the father and mother, and they like to ask us alot of qns on singapore. their children are very cute. they have a son and a daughter. the son is the elder child, and he likes to wear this set of superman clothes, which has a cape attached behind. he always run here and there, making alot of sounds, thinking that he himself is superman. so all of us call him superman. haha. as for the daughter, she is simply adorable. :)







since sukau b&b is situated inside a jungle, we have alot of animals paying us visits. long tailed macaques venture into the backyard. bats fly into the dormitory. big moth sticking itself onto doors. and got one time there is this big green insect on the door of my room, and i thought its a grasshopper but apparently it is not.




there is a deer that has been there for many months. the locals discovered the deer when it is only about 3 months old, and it is trapped inside a big pool of mud. so they rescued it and the deer has been kept at the b&b until now.

back from sabah!

yoz i am back from sabah!

thought i will be coming back on the 23rd, but the flight back to johore is on 21st. good also lah, cos i really miss sg, miss my home, and of course miss darling.

i must say the sabah trip is very fun. its a different type of holiday compared to the previous ones that i had been to. i get in close contact with nature, by taking river cruise along the banks of rainforest, jungle trekking in the rainforest, watching newly hatched baby turtles venturing out to sea. all these are really unforgettable. the pace of life in sabah is very laid back, and everything is done at a very slow pace, and time passes by really very slowly. i think its a good break from the busy and stressful city life in singapore.

must also mention my tour mates, who make the trip unforgettable. i made two new friends. one is meishan, who is a bio teacher in a girls' top school. she is a very vocal person, 快人快语，有话直说，has strong leadership qualities, and loves animals. another girl is arlene, also a bio teacher in a neighbourhood sch in the west. she is different from meishan, very quiet, gentle, and always say everything in complete sentences. she dun like to use short form, or broken sentences when she speaks. amazingly she doesnt teach english.

last but not least, is my colleage deyang, who jio-ed me for this trip. well i must say he is a amazing person. dun see him skinny and nua, but he enjoys outdoor activities. he is very knowledgeable, loves eco-tourism, and is very strong in the command of both english and mandarin languages, be it written or spoken form. he teaches biology and english. btw deyang, meishan and arlene were course mates in nie.

ok now let's talk about day 1.

we went to sepilok, to visit the orang utan sanctuary. orang utans are now considered endangered species, so the purpose of the sanctuary is to protect them from getting extinct. there is a big platform, where during feeding times, all the orang utans will gather at the platform to eat bananas and jack fruits. not only were there orang utans, there were also monkeys, called long-tailed macque.

the orang utans are very well-behaved. but the long-tailed macaques are brats. they snatch food from their own kind, and even fight with one another just for a single banana. its damn scary seeing them fighting and screeching. meishan said that the macaques are like that, and they are not scared of human beings. they can also be found in singapore, for example macritchie reservoir, and sometimes they will snatch food from the public.









our first night's lodging is this ulu placed called sepilok b&b. b&b stands for bed and breakfast. its a very cheap dormitory, and cost 23 ringgit for one person for one night.

cannot expect anything much from a place like that. i am just thankful that the toilet is not dirty, and got hot water for us to shower. there is even internet access too. the only bad thing is that there are hell lots of mosquitoes, but well, if you look at the pictures, this kind of forested area confirm will breed lots of mosquitoes.

day 6 - departure japan, arrival singapore

finally its approaching the end of the trip.

woke up very early, and went out of the hotel to feel the nice weather of japan for the very last time.

breakfast was splendid. they even serve pancakes. but the pancakes dun taste good. haha.

took a photo with mr cute bus driver. the baby blue t-shirt that i am wearing was the one that i bought at the nagasaki atomic museum.

there was this big group of japanese students who keep looking at us. i think some of the boys like my two sisters, and my sisters think some of the girls like me.

and then one of the boys, who is quite cute, start walking towards us.

me and my sisters were expecting him to talk to any one of us, but dunno talk to who...

actually that's a smoke screen lah. his real intention was my younger sister. can tell from his happy expression when she took photo with him.



when i walk pass the female students, they start giggling to themselves. i really wanna laugh but keep controlling myself. haha.

ok this marks the end of the japan trip, with lots of happy memories!

sabah here i come! the flight to sabah is 6 am at the airport in johore on 16th dec. will be coming back on 23rd. i am going to miss the two biggest epl matches! liverpool vs man u, arsenal vs chelsea! arrghhhh! hopefully can get to watch them in sabah, but i think its highly unlikely. =(

day 5 - shopping, shopping and more shopping

as the title suggests, day five is more of a shopping day.

kick-start the morning with a very bad mood. first the breakfast is quite 难吃. they only serve japanese style breakfast, no western style, so i dun have my usual dosage of coffee.

and then my dear mum insist of staying behind to enjoy the breakfast, which i see no point in doing so, cos the breakfast is super disgusting, so i ask her to go back instead, and she say, "不要陪我的话你就走，要陪我的话就陪得心甘情愿一点."

damn pissed and irritated.

so got no mood to take any photos when we went to our first place of the morning, which is called blood pond hell. it has this name because the water appears red in color due to the soil which is red clay.



next we went to a shopping mall called hawk town. i bought a japan national team soccer jersey, and a adidas long sleeve top which looks like the spiderman costume.

the shopping mall got a very big and fun place to house the little kids while their parents go shopping.



saw this very interesting tap outside one of the shops. the tap is not connected to any water pipe, and yet water keeps flowing out! cool~



after hawk town, we went to another shopping place called 地下街. its super big, no matter how much you walk its like never ending.



now let me introduce the hotel that we are staying. the hotel for the last night in japan, and also the most happening hotel, because it is right beside a major shopping district, and nearby got 路边摊 and also red light district.

the shopping centre beside our hotel is called canal city. inside the shopping centre got this very nice shop called "Sweet Museum".







the cakes and pastries look very nice rite? :)

we had our dinner at a ramen roadside stall, highly recommended by henry. he says this stall sells the best ramen among the other roadside stalls. and the ramen really is superb! its different from the ones i had eaten at genki, sakae and ajisen, but it taste so much nicer.







and then we walk to the red light district. =p

there got lots of clubs, and in front of the clubs got alot of well-dressed men and women, with very thick make up. the men really look very gay and very 小白脸. as for the women, some were quite old, but there were quite a few who are young and chio. we even saw magazines at a booth that is FOC, and the magazine shows pictures of the various social escorts, male and female. i took one of course. haha. must show it to dashimon and ang hanwei. i must clarify that it is NOT a porn magazine. there are no nude pictures inside. all the men and women are fully clothed.



the night scenery of the shopping district is very nice, but the cock up fuji camera did no justice. sianz.





i had my first ever fast food meal for supper! its at this fast food restaurant called wendy's. wendy's was in singapore before, but collapse quite early, even much earlier than A&W. seriously i also nv heard of wendy's before, but i heard from a colleague very recently that the burgers from wendy taste very good, better than the burgers from mac and mos.




so i am very glad that japan actually has wendy's. =)

yup so that's the last night we will be staying in japan. the next day we will be heading straight to fukuoka airport right after breakfast.
