friday post

this morning when i woke up, i saw sms-es from chio outdoor enthusiast and gorgeous grace. and i got a shock. hw is hospitalised because he got a fit relapse. i remember the first time he got it, i was at the 案发现场. at that time i was in a state of shock. i am sure the pple present at that time were also shocked. thankfully my hall got medicine students, and luckily my wushu friend was also around, who is a year five medicine student at that time.

went to visit him at NUH at around four plus, and knowing that he will be extremely bored, i bought him a magazine.

he looks fine. i asked him wat happened, and he said he got it yesterday afternoon when he went home. by the time he woke up he was already on the ambulance.

went for dinner with darling. wanted to go holland v, but hor because i park at sci, the 95 route to buona vista is already jammed with cars and buses, because of the rush hour. and then hor the carpark fee cost me five dollars plus, which i super duper pissed! hello i only park there for an hour or so! if i noe its so ex i should have park at NUH lah, valet parking at 4 bucks only! damn chor leh. wah lao.

ok back to the holland v thingy, i change my route to clementi road, then turn to dover road, then to north buona vista road. and then i suddenly thought of going to rochester park, because heard from my colleague that it is quite a nice place but atas place, and the food there is fine dining concept, super ex that kind. so we went there to try. and we went to this restaurant called min jiang which serve chinese cuisine.

the food there really ex leh. order set meal ex. order ala carte also ex. so in the end we ordered the cheapest set meal, 48 bucks per person.

first dish: appetizer. hot and cold combi. hot is codfish with sweet chilli sauce. codfish rocks. crispy on the outside, soft inside. 入口即化. cold is prawn with mango sauce. prawn is fresh and goes well with the sauce.

second dish: shark fin soup.

third dish: popcorn chicken (atas version). quite spicy, cos is deep fried sze chuan style.

forth dish: brocolli with assorted mushrooms. at first we thought the brown slices are abalone, but its actually mushroom. -_-'''

fifth dish: 炸酱面. super nice.

last dish: dessert. 黑米粥 with vanilla ice cream. 绝配! i seriously din noe can 配 like that.

very expensive meal, but very fulfilling and satisfying. service is excellent too. this place cannot go everytime, but once in one or two years should be fine, to 宠一宠自己.

after that went to ucc hall to watch ensemble. want to feel for myself how isit like being an audience. haha. not bad actually, but i was a bit bored. some of the dance items are too long, and quite draggy. but i must say all the dancers have very very good technique, guys included. they damn flexible, they can spin like three rounds or more like no one's business. the items that gave me the deepest impression are the item choreo-ed by zaki, the one choreo-ed by dan koh, and lastly the item depicting life and death, where the choreographer got the inspiration from his road trip in europe. judging from the dance, i think the choreographer got quite a bad experience during his road trip, or he 跟死亡擦肩而过.

and then fetch darling to airport. she sending her friend off, who is going for SEP at scotland. there was a bunch of pple there, and i dun feel like mingle-ling (is there such a word) with them, so i quite sian, then when i sian, my black face will come out, which nobody dares to talk to me also. haha. i think this is the second time that happened already. i just have bad experiences when it comes to meeting darling's friends. maybe from now on i should just siam away from her friends' gatherings. made darling so angry that she refused to talk to me from airport all the way back to her house. haiz. :(

as a performer, i always love the stage.

i also love to see nice pictures of myself taken on stage, showing nice dance poses and good expressions. simply said, 把最帅和最美的自己呈现出来.

so far for the very few pics that i had seen, is either my back view is shown, or i am blocked by someone, or i am being cut off away from the picture, or even though got my front view, but i am too small to be seen, and the dance pose not very nice.

but i am sure there are more pics to come, and hopefully got a few really nice pictures. :)

for the 新宠

this post is specially dedicated to my good friend mr ang hw.

one year ago, when i first joined chi dance, and for my first ever performance with them, i was super happy and excited, and went around taking all sorts of crazy pics.

this year, same goes for him. its great seeing him so fast 融入 into this big family. hope to see you perform for arts fest next year in march and future performances to come!

so let me just show a few OUTSTANDING pics of him:

《朔·溯·塑》diary part 3

even though we had some refreshments, we were still hungry, and the night is still young, and this may also be our last chance going for supper together after dance, some of us decided to go for... SUPPER.

we went to the 老 hk cafe for steamboat again! i specially recommend the 鱼头汤底. super nice!

after the yummy supper, it was already one plus am, and i quite tired, and wanted to go home. but hw, partner and partner two still 不甘愿 and dun want to go back home so early. so we decided to go sing ktv and the nearest place is marine parade kbox, so i brought them there. on the way to k box, 发生一点小小的插曲 which is super embarassing and i refuse to reveal the details here. haha. upon reaching kbox... the place is CLOSED.

yay time to go home! but they still 不甘愿, and want to go east coast park chit chat and watch sunrise. -_-'''

well we still went east coast park, we still chit chatted, but we went home at 4 plus in the morning. and partner who is the most 不甘愿 is the first one to KO on the cab. -_-'''

《朔·溯·塑》diary part 2

sorry to my dear readers who are so looking forward to reading my posts on DR08, but i just dun have the time to blog, because of tests and assignments.

now that i can catch a breather, i shall continue. :)

all rite, after the two pm show, and after looking for our friends at the ucc lobby, we went back to the dressing rooms to take a rest and prepare for the 8 pm show.

the exco bought a big chocolate cake to reward all the dancers, and they even bought a rose for each dancer! but i broke mine in a short while cos i use it to shoo away a fly who was flying above the cake. =p

after that i was super tired, cos not enough sleep the previous night plus dancing 4 items in the afternoon show totally shag me out. i was also feeling super dirty from the immense pespiration that i got from dancing. so i went to bathe in the ucc toilet, and the hot water super shiok, make me super comfortable. but then i also still unable to fall asleep in the dressing room, and by the time i decided to give up sleeping, its already six plus and we have to get ready for the 8 pm show already. -_-'''

went around taking pics again before the 8 pm show:

the performance ended with a standing oviation from the audience. i think the applause was louder for the night show compared to the afternoon show. probably because there were more pple, and also because our items were much better and not that messy. haha.

supposed to have 4 kids coming to watch the 8 pm show. but they lost their way and din come in the end. -_-'''

since me, darling and hw dun have any supporters for the 8 pm show, we went up to the second level of ucc to grab some bites at the refreshment area. ding laoshi came later and some of the 男生 take picture with her.

i think ding laoshi is quite chio in her own way, and she look exceptionally stunning in evening gown. haha. she came to me and hw, and praised the both of us for making tremendous improvement. :)

ok let me end part 2 with a post from someone's blog. i dunno who she is, but i believe she is one of the TAT dancers.

Well erm overall I liked the entire concept of the performance, hated how sometimes the music would just cut and another melody would play and the dancers were good. :)

There were MANY MANY lifts. As in the guys would carry the girls and do crazy stunts la. And I'm so amazed at how effortless they make it seem!

The first dance was pretty boring cos it was the Manchu princess (格格) they were trying to depict and wow their costumes are so cool! They have the head dress with the tassels, and then the shoes is the real one with the pom pom on the end and the mini platform in the middle!!!Love the costume. :D

The guys one was okay...I thought it lacked the impact cos there were too few people. (Oh I don't like the UCC stage cos its not say very big but its too high. But the lightings ROCK!)

Then I think after that was Zhengjie's solo and he is SO GOOD! He's so smooth and graceful but his jumps have the 爆发力.I was pretty impressed by him cos I think he improved ALOT and he's super good now la.

And the qian hong-like dance after that just showed that the girls are all good and solid and flexible. And there were alot of lifts.

The ma jie dance was very touching, even though the ending was kind of like... the twist was very sudden la I should say.

Then the opera one. Their 感觉 and 韵味 is very good! And I would love to dance that kind of dance... but it was sort of dull after awhile.Loved the sleeves though. XD

Oh then was the qipao dance.They were wearing heels la! And it became like some chinese moulin rouge in the middle. Quite cute that dance.

Then was last year's DR. Bittersweet again. I was like dancing along. -_-''' XD Cos they did 第三 and 第四段. And I was missing Korea so much. Can't believe its almost been a year...so many things have changed. Well, some things are still the same.

Okay. So after that was I think Michael's piece? Like three mini dances. :) Then next was the work one. I liked that dance! The music was so chinese but the steps were like...lyrical jazz. And I spotted Sophia with her red hair! She's SUCH a mover la. :D

I don't know who choreo-ed it but I LOVE the dance! It is a little SYTYCD-like but that's not really a bad thing. Haha I think its a dance that everyone can enjoy watching. :)

Then K Idol.Okay Fen is the ONLY person who can do that.

Then the last dance. Eh. Kind of pointless leh. The value of the dance didn't jump out to me quite as much as the others, so maybe its just me la. But all in all, NUSCD rocks! And there are a bit too many similar lifts but they created nice effects. :)

《朔·溯·塑》diary part 1

now i am going to blog abt the happenings on the big day.

we are supposed to report at 9 am, but i only reach at 940. when i went down to my dressing room, i saw darling, and she told me now got chu lu practise on stage. i am stunned, and quickly change into my dancing attire and rush to the stage.

the practise was quite low morale because i flopped at doing the 天 lift with chio outdoor enthusiast. yesterday night's full dress rehearsal we also flopped at the 天 lift. si bei stressed leh, cos our performance is starting in about 4 hours!

if you are clueless about wat the 天 lift is:

so we keep practising and practising that particular lift, and we even do it once just right before the start of the performance, and i am glad that for both the afternoon and night performances, we din flop anymore. thanks partner for doing your part in gaining momentum and jumping up which makes my job easier. :)

we had our lunch, and seriously hor, the packed lunch and dinner that we have is seriously super jia lat and cmi. haha. for lunch, the chicken wing taste like plastic. for dinner we got tasteless fried rice, a chilli hard boiled egg, and a few pieces of fish cake. i think meals are very important. if we have a good lunch/dinner, it will boost our morale for the performance. but cannot eat too full lah, cos will have after lunch syndrome, which make us feel sleepy and then forget movements on stage. =p

after lunch, we quickly went to make-up and change into our costumes to get ready for our two pm performance. its good that i am becoming more 熟练 in doing make up for myself. just that i still dunno how to use eye-liner. haha! ding lao shi praised me that i look very good on stage, cos my make-up very nice. :)
