ayg opening ceremony

made a trip to indoor stadium to watch the ayg opening ceremony. some of you might be wondering how i got the ticket. last friday, when i went for the staff meeting, the P said he got 4 tickets to give away, and its a first come first serve basis. and during the break, i was the first one to get a ticket from him. haha.

ok i am now quite tired, so i will let the pictures do the talking.

(the dance performances)

(the marchpast. sg has the highest number of athletes, not surprisingly. second highest is land of contaminated milk. third highest is land of asian porn.)

our newspapers are quite dua pao xian. reports mentioned that the tickets for the opening ceremony were sold out. but the whole stadium is not even 3/4 filled. and out of the 3/4, half of it consist of the athletes from the 45 nations. wassup man. this is the first ever asian youth games in the world, and yet the 反应 is so 冷淡.

i sincerely hope that the yog opening ceremony will have a better attendance, or full house.

weekend post

yesterday was my mum's and sister's birthday, and it also happens to be my secondary sch classmate's birthday, and let's call her amy. and it also so happen that she had her wedding dinner yesterday. so way before that she asked me whether i can go to her wedding dinner, and knowing that the day is also my mum's and sister's birthday, she told me one sentence,"come leh, my wedding once in a lifetime leh."

and i cant find any reason or excuse to reject her.

thanks to my mum and sis for being so understanding, and anyway, happy birthday to the both of you.

this month i am so damn broke, because i went to malacca, i have to give angbao money to my mum, my sis, and to amy.

holidays are coming to an end. tomorrow will be my first day at b_dok view. if you ask me whether i am looking forward to going there, i can tell you very honestly i dread the feeling, because i nua too much, but dun worry i am sure i can adjust myself to the environment very fast. haha.

these days i had been reading quite alot. i read harry potter and the half-blood prince again. my second time reading it. now i am reading harry potter and the deathly hallows. also reading it for the second time, but still halfway through. and today i just bought a roy keane autobiography at borders, because i got a 20 dollars voucher from dbs credit card. its a very interesting book, very roy keane, with all the vulgarities and the scoldings, hahahaha i like. one of my favourite man u players.

tomorrow evening i am going to watch the ayg opening ceremony at indoor stadium! alone! yay! looking forward to see my nuscd friends in shocking pink costumes.

the death of michael jackson

this morning i woke up early and was dressing up to go to b_dok view for a staff meeting. and then my mum was watching channel newsasia and she told me the shocking news that michael jackson passed away. i was like OMG.

right now you may think that i am going to show some of his performance videos, but actually no, i am going to show a very funny mtv commercial that takes a dig at america's entertainment scene. you can recognise michael jackson, along with amy winehouse, paris hilton, pamela anderson and even david + victoria beckham!

dun you admire mtv for its innovation and creativity?

but anyway, rip michael jackson, heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race.

malacca last day

this time we have to fall in at 730 am for breakfast, because our coach to sg is leaving at 9 am. *yawnz yawnz yawnz*

our breakfast is mee goreng. they call it mee hassan. its very cheap. one egg and one plate of noodles only cost 3 ringgit. and the mee is very very very spicy. together with the sambal is even more spicy.

btw i like to commend mr leow, who eats chilli with no kick at all. compare his egg with my egg:

i think he is crazy.

ok so that is the end of the whole malacca trip. mr leow wants to go there again to see the fortune teller, and ask us to accompany him. and i still think he is crazy.

a question to everyone: wat happens if u sway sway lost your passport overseas?

here is the answer, taken from cleo magazine:

according to the Immigration and Checkp_ints Auth_rity of Singapore [yes the officers from this organisation confisgated my nanchaku], you will need to make a police report in the host country within 14 days, ask for a copy of the report or an acknowledgement slip, then go to the singapore embassy.

if you cant get either of these, get the name, number and location of the police station. go to the Immigration and Checkp_ints Auth_rity of Singapore website, locate the nearest singapore overseas mission and report the loss. there, you will be issued a document of identity that will allow you to return to singapore.

wow besides teaching girls to enhance their sex performance on the bed, doll up and spend lots of money on clothes, cosmetics, accessories and watever stuff, the cleo magazine also gives guys like me such important information. well done.

malacca day 3

fall in at 8 am on day 3 for breakfast. *yawnz*

we had yong tau foo. this yong tau foo is near the federal cinema, and its quite famous. when we reach the place, we are the second customers. as we were eating halfway, more and more pple came, and then 3 sg cars came.

the noodles look normal, but the sauce they use for the noodles is very nice, really enhance the flavour of the noodles. and the wanton is fried to a perfect crisp, and i thought the filling is pork, but actually its fish paste! quite special. total cost - 32 ringgit.

after breakfast we went back to the condo. cos malacca seriously got nothing much to sight-see. the original plan was to go gym but then i slept all the way until lunch. :p

we ate prawn mee for lunch. very cheap, only 3 ringgit for one bowl. and the girl serving us the prawn mee is quite chio. wah hahahahaha. but i think she is either attached or married to the guy serving us the drinks, cos that guy is quite yandao.

next we went to tan kim hock. it is a very very big shop that sell malaysia's local products, such as 马蹄酥,豆沙饼, satay fish, durian cake etc etc. we bought lots of stuff, and i myself spent 67 ringgit in total. before tan kim hock we went to aik cheong that sells famous coffee powder, and i bought 5 different packets of coffee, which cost me around 44 ringgit. -.-'''

after all the crazy buying, we went to a shop that sells satay, and its super famous. besides the normal chicken and pork satay, they also have pork liver and pork intestine satay!

seriously i am not a fan of pork liver but the pork liver satay really taste good! the pork intestine satay taste fabulous too. same goes for the normal chicken and pork satay. total cost - 43 ringgit.

we went to the biggest shopping centre again. btw its called dataran pahlawan. mr mak wants to buy another bag to put all his foodstuffs. he really bought alot. mr leow and i wants to have a hair cut. dashimon wants to have a massage, and he drags mr mak with him. i recommend the wella salon on the first floor. i think their service not bad, and the girls quite cute. so cute that they convinced me to buy their styling wax and hair spray.

dinner was at this pizza place located near chinatown.

we ordered 2 pizzas - seafood and rosemary chicken. we also ordered mussels, mushrooms roasted with cheese and fried squid. total bill is 101 ringgit.

we wanted to go to chinatown again to see this guy called 何师傅. he has a very tough finger that can poke holes in coconuts. his record is open 4 coconuts just with his finger in one minute ten seconds. and its in the guiness world records. so he wants to break the record, and even got media coverage. damn kua zhang. but in the end we din manage to see him, cos we went to see a fortune teller. hahahaha.

so here's wat the fortune teller told me (i only disclose a few):

he said i very 豪爽. anything happen also no problem. 天塌下来当被盖.

he also said i got alot of 桃花运. ask me to be careful. 色字头上一把刀.

i think wat he said abt the 豪爽 is quite true. as for the 桃花运 i dunno. hahahaha. darling you dun worry ok, i will remain faithful to you throughout my whole life. its a promise!!! to prove my love to you, i dedicate to you the song that is playing on my blog. :)

ok here is one last pic to end this post:

these are the foodstuffs that we bought altogether. really super kua zhang.

malacca day 2

colonel dashimon gave out the routine order for us to eat breakfast at 8 am. being obedient NSmen we obediently followed the routine order and fall in at 8 am, and our driver is already waiting for us.

our first stop: chicken rice balls at jonker street (also recommended by damien)

chicken is tender and juicy, because they use kampung chicken. as for the chicken rice balls i think it taste normal, not that outstanding, a bit overrated. but their chilli sauce rocks, very very spicy. the whole meal cost 24 ringgit. luckily we went in the morning, cos not many pple. during lunch and dinner the shop will be overcrowded, with a long queue.

second stop: stadthuya square.

a place for sight-seeing. nothing much to see also. got the melaka christ church, the clock tower, the fountain and windmill.

third stop: maritime museum

very big ship, inside the ship there is a air conditioned museum. quite cool.

4th stop: fort a famosa.

another place for sight-seeing. must take pictures with the famous ruins, the cannons and the APC (armoured protection carrier).

5th stop: char siew rice for lunch. dashimon says that this char siew is the best char siew he has ever tasted, definitely can nv eat this kind of char siew in sg.

the char siew looks 晶莹剔透. put a piece into my mouth. OMG. its really different. the outside skin is crispy, and the inside is juicy, with the juice and oil coming out. wow. amazing. cost of our lunch: 32 ringgit

6th stop: durian plantation for durian buffet. yes i think we must be out of our mind to eat durians right after our lunch, and is BUFFET.

they have alot of different varieties of durian, and all the durians are fleshy, and of course they taste heavenly. 40 ringgit per person to enjoy the sumptous durian buffet. and pls standby some fisherman friend or strong mint sweets because your whole breath will smell of durian, a bit disgusting, and when someone burb, it is disgusting x 10.

and then we went back to the condo for afternoon siesta and laosai-ing. leow and i went for a swim to burn away the excess calories.

dinner: bbq seafood

the seafood is damn fresh. prawns are damn big. and i must highly recommend the stingray. their stingray is a bit different from ours in sg. i think they go and fry the stingray first, because you can eat the sides of the stingray which is very crispy. the bones are crispy too, and you can eat them together with the flesh, without the fear of getting choked. and the sambal chilli on top is UPZ man!!! total cost of the dinner is 142 ringgit. a bit expensive, but definitely worth the money.

and our last stop is malacca's chinatown. in the day the chinatown is quiet with shophouses. at night it transformed into a night market with all the 路边摊 on the streets. remind me of the 夜市 in taiwan.

we ate the famous asam laksa and baba chendol. awesome. fantastic food to conclude day 2. had a bit of sore throat, and ate a tablespoon of honey, together with alot of ricola elderflower lozenges, and lots of water.

malacca day 1

yoz my dear readers i am back! took the 9 am coach and reached lavendar at around 1 pm. this bus ride was so much faster, because when we took the coach to malacca from lavendar, the bus left at 830 am, and we only reach malacca at 150 pm! damn freaking long.

we were all super hungry, and our local driver is already at the malacca bus terminal waiting for us, and we were sent to this nyonya restaurant, and the owner of the restaurant knows dashimon.

ok let me introduce the 4 handsome guys for this trip, starting from the top left pic in a clockwise manner:

mr desmond, aka dashimon, the organiser of this trip. his parents have a condo in malacca, so his whole family always go malacca frequently for a short getaway. we stayed at the condo for the whole 3 nights, so its free accomodation!

mr leow. the same person that went with me to batam and hong kong.

mr mak, also went with me and mr leow to batam and hong kong.

me - no need introduction, yes?

and so here's the signature dishes of the restaurant:

omelette with spring onions and shrimps - strong flavoury taste of the egg, 油而不腻.

fried fish - the sambal chill rocks big time

soya bean with chin chow - the chin chow flavour is a bit different from sg.

娘惹杂菜 - the dish made famous by mediacorp drama little nyonya

chicken rendang - the chicken meat is tender and juicy, and the gravy is simply delicious. slight tinge of coconut milk makes it fragrant and a slight spiciness thrills my taste buds.

fried calamari - squid fried to perfection. the batter is crispy, and the squid inside is very chewy and fresh.

chendol and ice kachang - very very authentic and special flavour, which you can nv eat it in sg.

fish maw soup - rich flavour with fresh ingredients, which will make you slurp the whole big bowl, but i was too full after eating all the previous dishes.

cost for the whole meal: 99 ringgit

after lunch, we proceeded back to dashimon's condo to put our luggage. the condo has a swimming pool, a gym, a playground, and lots of ang mor children playing in the pool almost everyday, with their mothers suntanning themselves by the side of the tool.

his house is quite big, bigger than the standard condominiums in sg. it has a living room, a kitchen, a storeroom, 2 toilets, 3 bedrooms and a balcony. from the balcony you have a damn awesome view of the sea. although the sea is quite dirty. very ideal place for a getaway if you are sick of the fast-paced life in sg. life in malacca is laid-back and relax.

we went to malacca's biggest shopping mall, but din buy much things, because i already bought quite alot of stuff in sg and taiwan. we were a bit thirsty so we went to secret recipe for a short tea break.

we ordered DURIAN CHEESECAKE and CHOCOLATE INDULGENCE, both cakes are damn nice, but i vote durian cheesecake as the clear winner!!! this is my first time seeing and tasting durian cheesecake, and it is a weird combination, but it taste good! on the first bite, the durian taste is very strong which covers the cheese flavour, but when the cake melts in your throat, the cheese flavour starts to come out. yummy!

cost for the tea break: 48 ringgit (including drinks that we ordered)

we only ordered two cakes because dashimon ask us not to eat too much, to save some space in our stomachs for the satay celup at Capitol. there are quite a few satay celup eateries in malacca, but this Capitol satay celup is the most famous and authentic one, also highly recommended by damien (my kevii hall friend who stays in malacca). we reach there very early, at about 6 pm, and there is a queue already. -.-'''

thankfully we only waited for about ten minutes and we got a table! this is my first time eating satay celup! btw satay celup is like a steamboat, and inside the steamboat is satay sauce gravy, the 料 are 串 together on long satay sticks. got many many varieties for you to choose, and each stick cost 70 cents ringgit.

sometimes the waitress will give us special ingredients, for example tiger prawns, abalone, scallops, and squids, also cost 70 cents ringgit. confirm must whack. haha.

although satay celup is very nice, but cannot eat too often, cos very heaty, sure will get sore throat. haha. we spent 88 ringgit in total.

after the satisfying satay celup dinner, we headed back to the condo, and on the way, dashimon ask the driver stop at a place that sell ketu piling, and he bought them for us to try. ketu piling is like our sg's kueh tutu, except that ketu piling uses coconut sugar as the fillings, and when you eat ketu piling, it wun 黏牙. everytime i eat kueh tutu sure will gave the white thingy stuck in between my teeth, damn 搞味. haha.

we went for a night swim, because eat too much, so must exercise.

so this marks the end of day 1.

stay tuned for more food coming up. i brought 750 ringgit for this trip, and on food alone, i spent like 500 ringgit. -.-'''

chocolate calculator

received an email, which is very interesting. i shall share it with everyone.

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway -but the Hershey Man will know!

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATHS

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute.

Work this out as you read... Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..If you haven't, add 1758.6.

Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

.

.

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

------------------------------------------------------

going to malacca tomorrow and coming back on sunday!

hope i wun put on too much weight when i come back. haha.

sushi!!!

today darling and i made sushi to eat! making sushi is actually quite a tedious process. need to prepare the ingredients, need to wrap the sushi, and after that need to clean up. and it doesnt help that the weather is super hot, so i am pespiring all the way. but making sushi is actually very fun, and when u see ur final product still look like sushi and not look like spring roll, you will feel proud. haha.

so let me introduce the ingredients:

crab sticks, vegetarian ham, cucumbers, carrots, seaweed, rice, unagi, lots and lots of mayonise

without further ado, here's our final products!

vegetarian ham maki

unagi sushi (the 饭团 we 捏 ourselves leh, mai siao siao)

kanikama maki (presentation 100 marks haha)

unagi maki, ruined by me, because i wrap halfway, too engrossed, and the whole thing fell on the floor. -.-'''

kani salad gunkan! made by darling. :)

another version of vegetarian ham maki, the stuff on top is some seasoning, goes very well with rice.

this one is err... seaweed spring roll?? hahahaha no lah. because we got too much kani salad left over, so we just use the seaweed and wrap the kani salad together with carrot and vegetarian ham. taste not too bad!

of course we must take pictures with our sushi.

(darling is holding the assorted sushi 拼盘!)

sushi making - 成功!!!

happy darling and dear. btw if you all still dunno, i call her darling, she call me dear. *embarassed and blushing*

hahahahaha.

the chinese challenge

i think its really cute to hear these little kids speak mandarin. all the chinese teachers should play this clip to inspire the students in learning the wonderful chinese language, or to put them to shame.

so i decided to go to www.thechinesechallenge.sg to enrol in the weekly competition. if you got the highest score you will win prizes. i thought the questions were easy, thinking that the standard of chinese is like how screwed up right now, but omg, I AM WRONG.

1st question:

第一位得到奥斯卡奖的华人是谁?

this one i noe. confirm is 李安.

2nd question:

谁曾使用过“裸退”一词,而引起媒体热烈报道?

huh??!! wah i am totally clueless. let's see wat choices they have.

A) 中国前国务院副总理吴仪

B) 《色戒》里全裸演出的汤唯

C) 七十年代艳星胡锦

i shall go for A, which seems to be the most rational choice.

4th question:

以“大历史观”写出《万历十五年》的是以下哪一位学者?

A) 钱穆

B) 黄仁宇

C) 陈寅恪

i dun noe those 3 pple at all man. i only noe who is 金庸,古龙,罗贯中 and 黄玉郎. oops sorry 黄玉郎 is draw comic book one. :p

5th question:

棋樟山指的是本地哪一个岛?

of course is st john island lah. cannot be sentosa or pulau ubin rite?

7th question:

歌曲《龙的传人》的原唱者是:

A) 费玉清

B) 李建复

C) 成龙

if the answer for A change to 王力宏 i think the students will choose this. so the person who come out with these choices actually very nice. is very obvious the answer is B rite? haha.

9th question:

讲华语运动第二波广告“古文篇”中,第三位小朋友所念的绝句“窗含西岭千秋雪,门泊东吴万里船”的作者是谁?(watch the youtube clip at the beginning of this post)

A) 杜甫

B) 杜牧

C) 杜荀鹤

this question really too difficult. i only noe 举头望明月,低头思故乡 and 白日依山尽,黄河入海流.

10th question:

第一本由华人以英文创作并改编成百老汇歌舞剧与电影的畅销小说是:

A) 西贡小姐 (Miss Saigon)

B) 喜福会 (Joy Luck Club)

C) 花鼓歌 (Flower Drum Song)

i think most of the pple will just choose ms saigon. that's wat i did initially. but after doing some googling, i found out that the correct ans is actually Flower Drum Song. :p

-------------------------------------------------------

actually there are 12 qns in total. i only showed a few for everyone to see. the questions are seriously challenging, and i dare to admit that i failed this test TERRIBLY.

maybe should ask the LEP students to go and have a try. ex-主席, wat are you waiting for? still on cloud 9 after buying ur flat?? hahahahahaha.

friday post

so today i went to funan to change a new power adaptor. when i reach the entrance of the shop, i saw big big video cameras and camera crew. oohhhh i got excited and thought will meet some famous celebrities.

AND THEN.

i noticed that the camera crew got a special characteristic... they are all geh-leng-ah. -.-'''

the camera crew, the tv crew, and even the celebrities, are all from vasanatham channel. yay.

ok after changing the power adaptor i went to peninsula shopping complex to walk around, and omg i saw a shop having a warehouse sale, with adidas and nike tops selling at 10 dollars each, national team jerseys selling at 29 dollars, even soccer boots also selling at very cheap prices.

immediately walked in and bought a germany soccer jersey, a lotto top, and a adidas sleeveless top. ok that should be good retail therapy for yesterday's frustration i had.

btw i will be going to malacca with my army friends from 18th to 21st june. looking forward to the delicious food haha.

stupid router power adaptor

sometimes my mum piss me off.

she wanted to change our internet service provider from xingtell to starharb, because the internet speed provided by starharb is faster compared to xingtell, and the bill will be cheaper 20 bucks every month.

sounds good eh??

BUT.

the stupid modem provided by the wonderful starharb DUN HAVE WIRELESS. i repeat, DUN HAVE WIRELESS. and my mum actually din realise that cos she have no clue about wireless. she thinks that with a modem, all 100 laptops in my house can surf the internet. so fine, i have to go and buy a router. and starharb specifically say that must buy this model called dlink 615.

and since today is the first day of the pc show, i went down with darling to purchase a router hoping to get a cheaper price. the starharb customer service officer told my mum that the router will cost around 80 bucks. i asked my friends they also say less than 100 can buy one router.

SO GUESS WAT??

original price of that dlink 615 is 159 bucks. because of the pc show, selling at a special price of 109 bucks. BUT 109 BUCKS IS STILL 29 BUCKS HIGHER THAN 80 BUCKS!!!

but LL i still have to buy.

then i eagerly go home and try to configure the router.

AND THE POWER ADAPTOR OF THE ROUTER SPOIL!!!

SO I HAVE TO GO DOWN TO FUNAN TO CHANGE THE POWER ADAPTOR!!!

super super sian.

but well, i shall stop being so resentful of my mum, since she is the one who gave birth to me and raised me for 26 years. without her i will not be here today.

mum i love you. i love starharb too. router no problem. power adaptor no problem. tomorrow i will just go funan and change a new power adaptor.

respect.

peace.

amen.

ah mi to fo.

bye bye.

good night.

AND CRISTIANO RONALDO IS GOING TO REAL MADRID FOR 80 MILLION POUNDS!!! WASSUP MAN!

in addition, dashimon's latest blog post: IN FRONT OF THE HOLY ONE... I AM WEAK is seriously seriously damn funny.

outdoor camp

here are some overdue pics of my outdoor camp. at first i thought this camp is a tekan camp, but thankfully it is not. the siong part of the camp is 20 km sea expedition (from changi beach to sembawang park) and the 50 km land expedition which is divided into two days. the places we went to include a very nice park behind republic poly, bukit timah summit, macritchie reservoir, botanic gardens and southern ridges.

---------------------------------------------------------------

i happen to read my dance friend's blog, and to my utter shock and amazement, she and her bf already bought a new flat!!! omg that is like how fast???

i need to 加把劲 and save more money. no more green room cafe. hello to $2.50 杂菜饭 and 云吞面.

and here is a 欠扁问答题.

wat is the heaviest food in the world?

ans: 云吞面. wanton (one-ton) mee.

another 欠扁问答题.

who is the strongest man in the world?

ans: the uncle selling the wanton (one-ton) mee.

*BACKGROUND LAUGHTER*

ok very random i noe. haha.
