NDP Preview

in 2012 and 2013, i got two tickets because i was one of the first to respond to my colleague's email that he has ten ndp preview tickets to give away.

this year i am lucky again to get ndp preview tickets, not from my colleague, but from the balloting by registering through the ndp official website. and i got 4 tickets! initially i gave them to my parents and my two sisters because i have been going for the past two years. but my little sis has a work appointment, and my younger sis is not very gian, so in the end darling and i went with my parents.

the people from SGAG are always so funny and so creative. hahahaha.

all of us got the green bag! but i want the pink one... hahahaha.

thank you jerome lim for the nice photos! (i "kar-poh" them from google)

i am surprised that such a 'dark' item can be used for ndp. however there is a storyline to it and everything flows meaningfully after this item. great job to the artistic director mr dick lee, and whoever that came out with this idea! anyway do you know that dick lee was also the artistic director for ndp in 2002 and 2010? this year is his 3rd time being the artistic director.

this year's visual effects and performance segment were really breathtaking and amazing. better than 2012 and 2013. :)

Inter-CCA Amazing Race

organised by my sec 3 show choir students and sec 3 npcc students. they really did a very good job in organising and carrying out the whole amazing race. i was really impressed by their efforts, and it was heartening to see all the CCAs' students having so much fun in the amazing race.

basically the amazing race has 8 stations, with different task for each station. once you complete a task at a station, you will be given a puzzle piece. when you collect all 8 pieces, a picture will be formed and you will know which place to go to find the treasure.

briefing before the start of the race

congrats badminton for getting 1st!!!

new york - last 2 days

2nd last day at new york! we decided to catch a broadway show! it is either lion king or les miserables, and because my show choir performed 'at the end of the day' for last year's b-dazzled, we decided to watch les miserables!

les miserables is shown at Imperial Theatre. ticketing office opens at 10 am so we reached at 955 am, and there is already a long queue! omg!!!

and then there is a chap behind us even more 可怜. he already ordered the most expensive tickets (200 USD) online, but he still have to join in the queue just to collect the tickets. damn poor thing.

the cheapest tickets for les miserables is 59 usd. at the counter you can ask whether the lottery rush tickets are still available. lottery rush tickets cost 37 usd. and luckily we are still able to get it! woo hoo! we are so happy. cheap thrill of typical singaporeans.

the theatre is really amazing. got the imperial feel.

totally did not regret watching les miserables. too awesome. teared a bit when 'at the end of the day' was performed, because it brought me alot of memories that i had with my show choir last year. we bonded together alot. teared a bit too when the emotional songs were being played, because my grandma passed away. and my sister whatsapp-ed me, said that my parents told me to continue on with my tour in new york, and i can still pay my respects to my grandma when i am back in sg.

after watching les miserables, we went to take the staten island ferry to see statue of liberty. staten island ferry is free of charge.

that's the nearest we can get to the statue of liberty!

we also visited the 911 memorial.

last day of new york, we visited chelsea market. chelsea market is like quincy market of boston. but i still prefer quincy market.

the best part of chelsea market is we chanced upon this very nice sushi shop called 'beyond sushi'. it is beyond our imagination that the sushi is entirely vegetarian, and it can taste so delicious. it blew us away.

don't forget to try beyond sushi if you travel to new york!

and so to sum up the whole USA trip, even until now, i still can't believe that i travelled to so many places over such a long duration with darling. i can't believe i survived the long hours of flight. it was really a good holiday, and a good recharge from work. must really thank cheryl and husband and singaporean roommates for being such good hosts, and letting us stay at their apartment, which really saved us alot of money on accomodation.

i will also never forget these signature food from these places:

1) lobster roll and clam chowder from quincy market, boston

2) pancakes from tabard inn, washington dc

3) cupcakes from georgetown cupcakes, washington dc

4) chinese food from harmony cafe, georgetown, washington dc

5) mussels from flex mussels, new york

6) chinese food from super dumplings, new york (can try all their chinese food but dun ever try their dumplings!!!)

7) smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, from eas-a-bagel, new york

8) vegan sushi from beyond sushi, chelsea market, new york

that's all folks!
