i ka poh this whole post from my little sis.
when i was out there having fun during my birthday party, my dad was suffering in pain.
as i read her post, my heart felt like being stabbed 100 times.
today(saturday) was a very long day. but because everything ended up fine i'm going to do a damn good job writing every detail down.
my day started at 230am. i'm quite the light sleeper and i heard my dad and my mum chatting outside my room. normally i ignore it, but i heard my name being mentioned. so i woke up and went outside to see what they were talking about. i found my mum kneeling beside my dad, giving him a massage. my dad was slummed in a chair, his eyes close, his hands gripping the chair very tightly and his whole face was FLUSHED and when he opened his eyes they were bloodshot.
i've never, ever seen him like that before. early in the day we realized he had shingles, and that he stopped his TB meds 2days earlier because he felt a little pain in his limbs. but my brother's girlfriend(who's a pharmacist), and myself both felt that he should continue with the meds first because this side effects are considered kinda mild(or so we thought). so i kneeled down next to my mum and started massaging his legs for him too. but he told us it wasnt his muscle that was hurting, it was his bones. i googled and was told that the reason bone hurts is due to a possible onset of bone cancer.
ya. ok. erh. i didnt know what to do so i tried calling every friend i knew who was a doctor. they didnt know what to do either. i called the tb clinic, no answer. i called the tb ward, to see if they had a doctor on duty - none. i was advised to call 995. and i really would have called if not for my parents who don't really enjoy the hospital experience....
at that moment i was SHITE DESPERATE. so after sending my dad back to bed, i went back to bed, tossed and turned and couldn't sleep.
and then i prayed.
i'm no christian, nor buddhist, nor anything. and for a very, very long time i have avoided using the word god. because i felt that this god belonged to the christians and i didn't want to associate myself with that religion, or any other religion for that matter.
but recently my friend, cy lent me a book. it's a collection of interviews with celebrities in the music industry.
david tao in his interview said this " 其实我想讲的是,当我最脆弱的时候,我都会祷告。你不一定要是个基督徒,佛教徒,或回教徒,才可以pray。我觉得everybody can pray。praying is really a very powerful thing."
so i did.
i told god that this is the first time i have EVER, EVER asked for anything. i have never ever prayed before an audition, before a performance, before an exam. i have taken whatever that has happened to be in my stride because i believe that everything happens for a reason. but it's shite scary to see your grandma lying in that hospital bed, almost paralysed and the thought of the same thing possibly happening to your dad is 10000x worse. so i told god that i'd do ANYTHING, ANYTHING to make my dad better.
i didn't really sleep at all, and woke up at 7am to send my dad and mum to the tb clinic to see if it was because of the meds he was taking. we reached at 8am and the doctor reached at 830am. i told the nurse if we could cut the queue and she allowed us to and when the doctor saw us. he said, he honestly had no idea. all he could advice was for us to stop the tb meds for the time being. he then discharged us from the clinic and told us to look out for serious TB symptoms (since my dad's was apparently under control already).
i was very angry, but the helplessness i felt overtook all anger, and all i could really think of was to get my dad home to rest.
i had rehearsals at noon at glady's place. and so i went because i couldn't possibly cancel out on 4 people. earlier in the day we were supposed to meet for lunch with cy but i cancelled that. i told her my dad's condition when i reached her place.
she then told me that her mum cures shingles, and that everyone knows her mum is capable of that and yadayada its a skill passed on through generations yadaydayda.
i told her i was willing to let my dad try anything, and she OFFERED to send her mum to my place the next day. when her mum heard she said a night of pain would be too much for my dad to bear and offered to go over to my place TODAY to cure my dad. it's just a procedure which involves some form of pressure point release and wouldn't take more than 5 minutes. she even called my mum and explained to her everything about the infection. i don't know where to find better, nicer people than these.
to cut the long story short, my mum sent my dad over to her house after he woke up. glady's mum prepared all the necessities and BAM my dad is now snoring happily in his bed.
i cannot properly describe how relieve, happy and thankful i am. and that everything does indeed happen for a reason. because if i hadn't taken part in the radio1003 competition i'd never have met cy(who lent me the book) and gladys. i'd never have asked them to be part of my cast for a competition, would never have used her place for rehearsals, would never have cancelled on them for lunch(and therefore letting them know about my dad's situation), i would never have known her mum cures shingles, and my dad would probably still be writhing in pain now in his bed, and possibly every night when he sleeps.
apparently it takes 5 months to cure shingles with proper medication and cream, and within a day my dad is fine.
there IS a god, as long as you believe in it.

my dad is a man of few words. he speaks more to my two sisters but he seldom speaks to me. but he expresses his love to me through his actions. i seldom speak to him too, but i love him, and also respect him. he is really a good role model.
i am thankful to my little sis for being so swift and decisive. thank goodness my dad is ok now.
i will keep a close lookout on him from now on.
