tarako gorge 太鲁阁

when you make a trip to hualien, you must definitely go to tarako gorge. its an awesome place with amazing scenery.

tarako gorge is a national park, and has 7 different scenic spots - 三栈溪, 长春祠风景区, 燕子口步道, 岳王亭, 九曲洞步道, 慈母桥 and 水濂洞.

we went to all the scenic spots except for 水濂洞, because of insufficient time. heard that 水濂洞 is quite cool, because inside the cave, is totally dark, got water dripping on you from the top of the cave, and you have to bend and crawl at certain places inside the cave, so you must wear a raincoat and have a torchlight when you are inside the cave.

we booked a taxi driver to bring us to these places. it cost us NT2200, which is around 110 sing. damn ex lah. btw the standard charge is between NT2000 to NT2200.

we reached the entrance to the national park, and got down the taxi to take a picture. all tourists will take picture at the entrance.

三栈溪

长春祠风景区 - there's a spring, and the water is drinkable.

燕子口步道 - at the end of the 步道 there is a rock shaped like a indian face. indian as in red indian, not our ah neh.

can find the red indian in this picture?

岳王亭 - a pavilion to commemorate 岳飞将军. there is also a 吊桥, and the scenery from the 吊桥 is also very nice.

九曲洞步道

慈母桥 - near the bridge there's a very special rock called 青蛙石. the top of the rock is 黑绿色片岩,bottom part of the rock is 白色大理石. the pavilion is like a crown which the frog is wearing.

we reach hualien at 1115 am, and started the tour of tarako gorge at around 1145, and finished the whole tarako gorge by 430 pm. our taxi driver told us the 水濂洞 takes around 2 hours to tour finish. so for those who want to tour finish all the 7 scenic spots in tarako gorge, its best to start the tour early in the morning. :)

btw did you see the tshirts both me and darling are wearing? we are great ambasaddors of singapore, yes? haha.
